Alkebulan ✨

This is why being yourself matters.
Look at what Senegal has shown the world tonight. The music, the dancing, the traditional clothing, the storytelling, the creativity. Everything speaks to who we are as Africans.
These may be the Youth Olympic Games, rather than the Summer Olympics or the World Cup, but the beauty of this ceremony is extraordinary.
Senegal didn’t need to abandon its identity to impress the world. It celebrated that identity.
Sometimes we Africans forget how much beauty, talent and creativity we already have.
Congratulations, Senegal. You have made history, and you have made Africa proud. 🇸🇳🌍

Serbian students overthrowing Vučić is an extraordinary achievement.
In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and 2 months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

After a third election victory, it would have been easy to spend this occasion celebrating our achievements. I felt we owed Barbados an honest conversation about the future.
Our mindset matters. Our behaviour matters. How we treat one another, take responsibility and follow through will help determine how far this country can go.
Your Government must do its part. I am asking every Barbadian to recognise the part that is theirs.
This is serious business. We are building the country our children will inherit.
Commit to Barbados. Commit to being Bajan Strong. Let us finish the job.

I absolutely love this for you, but mostly for the people at Shuga and the world at large because a panel you were on, on TV during the election period so many years ago confirmed for me you need to be in all the rooms where decisions are made!

2 Maasai men have been taking care of an alleged stray baby giraffe for almost 1 week.
The giraffe feels very secure with them.
