57 votes • Final resultsWe're excited to share that Selective is now in alpha. We're onboarding RSpec test suites initially, but more testing tools & languages are in the works.
DM us and we'll get you setup. We value your feedback, so Selective is free while in alpha! 💚
We've reached a major milestone! Selective is in the wild: github.com/fosterful/schedul…
Interested in alpha testing? Let us know in the comments, and we'll follow up with you.
We've shared a lot about Selective's features. But what is Selective, actually?
Selective works with your existing CI provider!
A thread! 🧵
Selective lives at the application layer. Our client library is installed as a dependency in your app, requiring minimal configuration.
When a test node comes online, our client library connects to the Selective backend. We drive the entire test process, enabling the features we've described previously.
Features such as: nitter.cf/selectiveci/status/164…
We're getting closer to alpha testing! Our infra stack so far:
1. Backend deployed to @flydotio
2. Database managed by @crunchydata
3. Email provided by @awscloud SES
We're a small team, so keeping it simple is critical.

Just talked with @benjaminwood about the ideas he has for @selectiveci . Prioritized and selective test running can greatly improve engineering productivity – I'm excited for this to launch!
Do you have slow tests? Knowing is half the battle. With Selective's test analytics, you can quickly identify & address problem areas.

A highlight of RailsConf for me was hanging out in the @honeybadgerapp lounge and seeing a demo of what @nate_vick and @benjaminwood have built for CI. Reminded me of the first time @r00k told me about @tuple. Strong "everyone is going to use this" vibes.
Leaving #railsconf invigorated by all the great conversations and excited to keep building @selectiveci!
Do you load balance your test suite? Selective performs continuous test split optimization across CI nodes, ensuring you get the feedback you need as soon as possible.
Automatically rerunning failed tests in CI is a questionable practice. However, rerunning a failed test is a valuable tool to help you determine whether it's a flake. With Selective, you can immediately rerun a failed test with a click of a button in our real-time dashboard.
Most test suite optimization tools focus on short overall runtime. Selective intelligently orders your tests based on your current changes to give you the quickest feedback in our real-time dashboard.
