Universities should really give alumni lifetime access to the library. We paid enough for tuition, the least you can do is let us keep reading.

Many of you have heard Maddox Ssematimba mention Kefa Ssempangi in his song “Abato.” But who is this man?
Let's see him below ✍🏽️
In 1971, as Idi Amin’s regime began crushing opponents—especially among the Acholi and other targeted groups—Kampala’s streets filled with orphans.
Many children slept on verandas, scavenged for food, or wandered alone after their parents were taken and never returned.
Ssempangi saw them. He opened the first home for these destitute children, which was later formalised as the Africa Foundation. What began with a handful of orphans whose parents had been murdered grew into a network of care. He took in children from the streets and from families shattered by the regime’s violence, giving them food, shelter, schooling, and a chance at a future.
Even after he was forced into exile, the work continued. When he returned in 1979, he expanded it. Over the years the Foundation rescued and raised more than 6,000 orphans and abandoned children—many of them direct victims of Amin’s henchmen killings. Some of those once-hungry boys and girls became doctors, lawyers, teachers, and leaders who later assisted him in reviving the foundation in 2024.
The 86-year-old Ssempangi is also the founder of the First Presbyterian Church in Uganda. In retirement he lives in Mukono, where he has invested in poultry farming and recreation at Summer Gardens

Now we can understand better what dragged Akon city down.
When Akon came to Uganda, he had to meet Museveni and his son. We always wondered why.
Today we finally have the answers from Akon himself 🙌🏾🤦🏾

There is nothing 'embarrassing' about the circumstances of Moses Matovu's death as some people are saying.
Embarrassing how? The Matovu I knew was not the 'in-your-face' kind of moralist. He was not a "Mother Theresa". He lived his life as he wished and really enjoyed it, for those who ever encountered him in a social moment.
Like many of us, he did not live a "straightjacket" kind of life but was kind, and for someone of his pedigree, he had humility.
Yet because we live in a country where many people think a certain calibre of people MUST live a certain way (the "why didn't he go to a hotel kind of people?") and die a certain way (in a hospital or palatial house), we assign OUR MORAL VALUES to them. Yes, Matovu's death was tragic, and brutal (let's hope the killer is brought to justice), but it was not embarrassing because he was a human being first.
It was just death, whichever way you spin it.
Matovu entertained us and left an indelible mark on our music scene. Rest well, chief.

UN Secretary-General Guterres:
When the UN was founded, most of Africa was still under colonial rule. Today, Africa still has no permanent representation on the Council.
A 21st-century Security Council without permanent African seats is unjust and indefensible.
This must change.
