Nothing says "we heard the message and ignored it" quite like naming a white nationalist as chief of staff.

In 2022, @AbdulElSayed wrote an opinion piece about Long Covid and the importance of continuing to address it long after the emergency phase of the pandemic.

Thank you @Number10cat for shining a light on these horrific statistics, sharing to amplify!

1 in 4 women in the UK have been raped or sexually assaulted since the age of 16
6 in 7 rapes against women in the UK are carried out by someone they know
5 in 6 women who are raped in the UK don’t report it to the police
Fewer than 3 in 100 rapes recorded by UK police in 2024 resulted in someone being charged that same year
It is an abhorrent crime committed by cowards. Every perpetrator put in prison is a blessing.

I’d like a Netflix series on how the guy appointed by the government to reduce waste ended up lighting $500 million of his own money on fire in the midterm elections.
People with long Covid affecting multiple body systems are far less likely to recover, with fewer than one in five showing sustained improvement within three years, a US study found bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

it may be worth recirculating today too that newly elected Michigan Sen. Abdul El-Sayed authored this 2022 article in The New Republic: "Long Covid Is Just Getting Started. We're Not Ready for It.”

People putting “I Voted” stickers on Alex Pretti’s memorial is exactly the kind of tribute that matters. Not thoughts and prayers. Action.

Another outcome I love about tonight — billionaires who thought they could buy election outcomes are being repudiated by American voters.

In 2026, COVlD continues to be a mass disabling event.
Covid constitutes the largest mass disabling event in the United States since the Americans with Disabilities Act became law in 1990.
Now, the Trump administration’s anti-worker and anti-disability turn has created a climate of fear and difficulty around Long Covid accommodations. motherjones.com/politics/202…
Oh FFS, seriously @WHO!? It’s unacceptable that you’re not communicating the correct science. Washing hands and coughing into elbows don’t do squat to prevent transmission of airborne respiratory infectious diseases. Do better.

It is understandable
if this week
the main count
you are focused on
has to do with votes,
but please know
that the count
of deaths
in the Ebola outbreak
(ongoing in Congo)
has passed 5,000.

How many times do we have to explain this?
What part of your brain switched off and convinced you COVID just packed its bags and disappeared?
When a magician shows you an empty top hat, do you genuinely believe the rabbit ceased to exist?
COVID didn’t disappear. We stopped looking for it, stopped talking about it, and somehow confused silence with safety.
Stop calling this a “post-COVID world.” We’re post-emergency declarations. Post-precautions. Post-giving-a-damn, apparently.
But we are NOT post-COVID.
The rabbit is still here.
And at this point, I’m starting to think it’s the only one with object permanence. 🐇🎩
