Surprise 1: Anthropic acquired a one-person biotech . . . Surprise 2: that person is me Surprise 3: I’m here to tell you all about it Yes, this is what you think it is; after 6 yrs of increasingly loose anonymity: the Professor Oak reveal post …and yes, it has gotten so boring around here that I’m literally doxxing myself to spice up the timeline ------- Ok, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Cody Tranbarger. I mostly tweet, but occasionally find time to dabble in drug dev & starting/building biotechs. My past lives span the VC, crossover, startup continuum; Prof Oak has been my way of keeping a digital foot in those worlds, despite having my physical feet planted elsewhere. The past 18 mo, ‘elsewhere’ was Mithril Medicine, a co. I founded to develop bsAbs for LAMA2-CMD & other ECM-related genetic diseases. Mithril was born out of hands-on building with @MikeNGladstone, @JasonPaulRhodes, @LifeSciVC, & team @atlasventure. Somehow, I made enough half-decent calls along the way (even a broken clock is right twice a day, eh?) to convince them Mithril/I warranted a small seed. While I can hardly rationalize such an outrageously cavalier bet, I’m grateful for it, & I'd partner with Atlas again in a heartbeat. In typical AV fashion, Mithril’s primordial form was virtual, decentralized, & ultra-lean. This stage tends to be short-lived, but for Mithril, it worked surprisingly well, for surprisingly long, thanks in part to the rapid maturation of the AI tools I used liberally. Eventually, Mithril became a bit of an experiment itself - to find the upper bound of how far it could scale as a single operator + a bunch of Claude (+ a stellar bench of part-time consultants). In parallel, I started spending time with @nc_frey, @an1lam, & @CoefficientBio team; and promptly experienced, for the 1st time, AI at the frontier. Soon thereafter, Mithril stopped looking like an experiment, & started looking like a preview of an entirely new operating model. From that spark came “Pipeline-in-a-Person.” The idea immediately resonated when we shared it here back in April; and it was central to the shared vision that led to Anthropic’s acquisition of Mithril, & my joining the team. Why join Anthropic? Three reasons. (1) For Mithril, the programs continue, with more resources & infrastructure behind them, and as much Claude as I can put to work. (2) For me, the chance to start several more programs, & find out how many one person can actually run in parallel - an almost unprecedented luxury for a curious drug hunter. (3) For our mission, a path to institutionalize & scale this new way of working, then put it in the hands of all of biopharma, all over the world - which, candidly, I find the most energizing. Will AI x Bio cure diseases? Unequivocally yes, imo… but not by the route that gets the most airtime. Rather than timeline acceleration & compression, I see orchestration & parallelization as today's low-hanging fruit. Most drug hunters see a handful of go/no-go calls in a career, & spend entirely too much of the rest trading emails (my inbox can attest). Give them the bandwidth to run several programs at once, and the time to focus on scientific judgment, and I’m willing to bet they’ll make better calls. And at scale, better calls translate to more drugs, higher hit rates, broader patient impact, & likely, a disease or 10 or 100 cured. I couldn't be more excited to build toward that future @AnthropicAI. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to BioTwitter/X. The end of anonymity is bittersweet, but if anyone’s earned a proper introduction, you all have. It’s difficult to overstate how much this app has done for me: a decade of education, plenty of friends, many job opportunities, several mentors, a few investors, even a co-founder (fmr). It was the generosity of this community that inspired me to start posting 6 years ago, after just as many years lurking. I hope I’ve been able to pay it forward, in my own small way. But, to be clear, Prof Oak isn’t going anywhere. Same beat, same themes, and now, a front-row seat to drug development at the frontier. Stay tuned for dispatches from the trenches; and remember... Gotta Cure 'Em All

The largest math proof in human history is now computer-verified. Today, Axiom announces a complete Lean auto-formalization of the Classification of Finite Simple Groups, the "periodic table of symmetry." About 15,000 pages, built by over 100 mathematicians across generations.

We are ALL IN on AI. It's nice when third parties acknowledge and quantify how all-in we have been on AI. Grateful to be in the company of such amazing firms who we respect, collaborate , and sometimes compete with. More details of the study here - ilyastrebulaev.substack.com/…

Spent years watching models ace a single image and completely whiff on anything that moves or changes angle. Today we’re fixing that. Try Glimpse now, our first visual thinking model with competitive frontier performance compared to Astra on key public visual reasoning benchmarks.

Easy decision! We know a tier 1 AI company when we see it! excited to be working you, @EnoReyes, and the entire @FactoryAI team! What you’ve accomplished this year is breathtaking, and so much more to come!
Matt Murphy is a legendary investor with a track record of being very early and being very right. He led the Series D of Anthropic in Jan 2024. Their best model was Claude 2.1. I am thrilled to have @mmurph and Menlo Ventures investing in @FactoryAI. We are still so early.

I think I know this lead seed investor in this company! Early traction, consumer investing is one of the hardest areas of venture and @amywumartin makes it look easy! Congrats @higgsfield_ai you surprise on the upside every day!
Today Higgsfield crossed $1B in annualized revenue. We've grown 20x since September 2025. There’s a popular argument that foundation models will capture all the value in AI, leaving little for the application layer. Higgsfield is proving the opposite thesis, as better models expand what enterprises can achieve and increase the value of applications embedded in their workflows. That thesis is reflected in our business: 300% net revenue retention. 115% MoM growth in enterprise adoption since June. Positive gross margin since the beginning of this year. Thank you to our incredible team and everyone building it with us.

The calcium scan is the #1 most important diagnostic to decide how seriously to take your heart disease prevention. I did one after both my parents had heart attacks, despite being an avid CrossFitter and runner for 10 years. I was in the bottom 10% for men my age. I started statins the next week. 45% of Hale customers show calcium. So proud of @patricksamy and @supbroe1 for building a great company that is going to save a lot of lives.
Today, we’re officially launching @HalePrevention with a film called “Grow Old With Them”. You won’t see us founders in it. We wanted you to meet one of our customers, and hear his story in his own words. It captures why we built Hale better than any founder introduction could.

Welcome @atkurland, sometimes dreams do come true. 🙌
Big addition to our team today with @atkurland joining us! We used Alex as an archetype for years when we discussed the type of partner we needed to add to our growth team. instead of finding someone like him, we got him! I've known Alex for 15 years and worked with him long ago. We stayed in touch, and I've admired his career trajectory, his hustle, his grit, his deep connections with founders, and his amazing ability to win a seat at the table in outlier companies. This @MenloVentures team is so well configured for the AI era and Alex makes us even stronger!! 👏🙏 -Matt

Huge news: @Stripe has entered into an agreement to aquire @Openrouter. OpenRouter launched with a bet that now looks increasingly obvious: there wouldn’t be one model to rule them all. And, in just three years, they turned that vision into essential AI infrastructure—an impressive feaof product vision and execution that has made OpenRouter one of the most important companies of the AI era. We’re proud to have backed this incredible team from the start—partnering at the seed in February 2025, leading the Series A just three months later, and doubling down in the Series B earlier this year. Congratulations to @alexatallah and the entire OpenRouter team on this major milestone. More from @deedydas @mmurph on why we invested: mnlo.vc/stripe-openrouter

Menlo is 50 and still going strong. Having been here roughly half of that journey, I'm particularly proud of our origins, the exceptional team we've assembled, the entrepreneurs we've backed, the missions we support, the way we do business, and the great LPs that have supported us through it all. Truly an ALL IN group I'm lucky to be a part of.
Menlo is 50 years in — and all in on AI. Today, we’re announcing $3B in new capital to back the next generation of AI founders. The companies that will define the next era are being built right now. We’re ready to meet the moment. Read more: mnlo.vc/3b-for-ai

Huge congrats to my partner @mmurph for landing on the Midas List. Great investor in both founders and markets, but more importantly builds our team, moves fast for his partners, pushes firm strategy, and sets the pace internally. Well deserved Matt, first of many!
Appreciate @Forbes for including me on the Midas List w/so many uber talented co-investors + friends. Venture is a long game and you can’t time certain things. just show up as your best self everyday and focus on deep relationships w/entrepreneurs. That and a great set of partners is how we get energy and hopefully success in this business/craft over decades. Lucky and humbled to work with the special team @MenloVentures , our amazing portfolio of entrepreneurs, and a great network and ecosystem that makes venture the unique industry it is. Much more to come! 🙏

Congrats @mattzeiler and team @clarifai. Long journey from a pioneer in CV many years ago to now best in class CO (compute orchestration). enjoyed working together and look forward to seeing you push inference capabilities for all forms of AI with team @nebiusai in the decade ahead!
Huge news: Clarifai has agreed to license our AI inference & compute orchestration IP — plus the patent portfolio behind it – to @nebiusai. Our core team is joining them to keep building. Our technology becomes a key part of Nebius Token Factory, the inference platform inside their full-stack AI cloud. Faster inference. Bigger scale. Can't wait to ride this rocket ship and build the foundation for the next decade of AI inference. 🚀

Okay folks, this qualifies as BREAKING NEWS! Harold “Sonny” White, the warp drive pioneer behind NASA’s EagleWorks Lab, just stepped out of stealth with Casimir Inc. to unveil MicroSPARC: the first battery free chip to harvest continuous electrical power straight from the quantum vacuum via the Casimir force. The 5 mm × 5 mm device uses millions of custom microscale Casimir cavities fabricated on a substrate. Inside each cavity, two fixed conductive walls create a region of negative vacuum pressure (the well known Casimir effect). Stationary micropillars anchored in the middle act as antennas. Electrons from the cavity walls then quantum tunnel to the pillars because the interior is a lower energy “quieter” zone — and the probability of tunneling back is orders of magnitude lower. This one way “quantum ratchet” flow generates a measurable DC current with no external power source or moving parts. Prototypes already fabricated at university nanofab facilities (Texas A&M AggieFab, MIT.nano) have been tested in RF-shielded, low noise chambers for weeks. The team reports outputs ranging from millivolts to volts at picoamp to microamp levels using precision electrometers and Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy. Target performance for the first commercial chip: ~1.5 V at 25 µA (≈40 µW continuous). Stacking and scaling could reach milliwatts or even watts per device. Initial applications are ultra low power: always on IoT sensors, wearables, and medical implants. Longer term roadmap includes trickle charging phones, powering small electronics, and eventually grid independent homes or EVs. Commercialization is targeted for 2028, starting at ~$100/W before dropping toward $10/W. White ties the work directly to his earlier theoretical paper on emergent quantization from a dynamic vacuum and sees it as a practical power source for the deep-space missions he’s long championed. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and independent scientists have so far declined public comment. But if the engineering scales as hoped, MicroSPARC would represent a genuine paradigm shift: continuous, maintenance free power drawn from the fabric of spacetime itself. A bold leap from warp-drive theory into real hardware. Progress (and vacuum-powered chips) marches on. Photo: MicroSPARC | Casimir Inc. Source: thedebrief.org/free-energy-f…
