you'll see the worst take to ever exist on here and when you click the profile it says "hollanov + buddie".

nobody wants any of that fuckass readerfic that's clogging up the tags and making your website unusable, get out of here
while ao3 is working to get back up and running we’re here for all of your fanfic needs

i keep seeing people referring to fic drives as work being shared without “reward” for the author and i have to be honest, it bothers me that people are posting on ao3 with their main motivation being recognition and reward. wanting comments and engagement is natural, but i think framing it as reward or a return for your work is kind of indicative that you don’t really understand why fanfiction exists to begin with. fanfiction exists as a way for authors to express themselves, explore characters and identities and try things out. it’s a creative outlet and you should be writing because you want to do it. not because you want the attention it brings. we lose the culture and motivation behind fandom practices when we commodify them.
Fic writers talking about “engagement” wtf are you on about

90% of y'all know nothing about fandom history and nothing about how ao3 operates. your opinion is worthless.

lot of ao3 writers are starting to sound like those authors that lose their mind over pirating

'feedback metric' 'engagement' you guys talk abt fanfic like it's a corporate job.
i know we’re in the great ao3 blackout of 2026 and big fanfic rec master lists are cool and useful but isn’t it a liiiiiittle weird to think about your writing being photocopied to a google doc with zero feedback metric and no way to know if someone engaged with your work. lol

i support ao3 and not the writers because you guys are entitled and annoying af
i support the writers not the mfs running it 😭

'zero benefit' what 'benefit' are fic writers supposed to be receiving from posting their fic for free on a publicly available website.... isn't the point of posting fic to entertain readers? what other purpose could there be?
This quoted post is unavailable.

wtf is the difference between 200 people downloading your fic off ao3 directly and 200 people downloading it off google drive.... there is none. you guys are so dumb.
17
fanfic writers are simply dying to be published authors who cry about piracy. pls just go do that and charge money for your books and stop inflicting your whining on us, jesus
no shade but as an artist i think its insane to be against sharing via drive. it would be one thing if you earned revenue off ao3 and someone was trying to steal your income by reposting it and claiming it's theirs but THIS is something i cannot be sympathic about!!

ao3 implementing stats in the first place was a huge mistake.

girl i'm bored. let's all go back to dreamwidth.

i would sacrifice twitter a million times to save ao3. i would sacrifice twitter to save wattpad. i would sacrifice twitter for fun
the same mfs that are making fun of people for being upset over ao3 being down for 2-4 weeks would quite literally die if twitter went down for a day

people have literally been sued over fanfiction. the russian government arrested a fanfic writer this year. are you 5 years old.
PROTECTING YOUR RIGHTS IM CTFU THIS IS INSANETO ME

it's literally a hack, you illiterate clown.
honestly stop giving ao3 money this always happens after they get donations idk wtf theyre doing with it

Its like an insanely popular site that has millions in traffic each year with an incomprehensible ammount of data stored in almost 20 years of operation may cost a bit to keep up, or something
ao3 has got to be money laundering cause that site should not be held together by sticks and glue like it is when they get millions in donations every year

decentralisation of fanfic might not be feasible today unfortunately but genuinely, fandom culture would heal if we all went back to posting fic on individual blogs without fuckass 'stats' and only our friends read them

you people are so fucking stupid, they publish their financials every year, you can SEE where the money goes
ao3 has got to be money laundering cause that site should not be held together by sticks and glue like it is when they get millions in donations every year

oh yeah sure and what happens when author sees that 0 kudos and 0 comments and loses motivation to update what are u gonna read then friend

skill issue
The people saying “omg just read books you’re pathetic” about the people near ao3 is down are missing the fact that fanfiction is free. Books are not.
