No babe, I like long-horizon benchmarks, the ultra-long ones scare me
Today we're releasing DeepFinance, the first ultra-long horizon benchmark for high finance work.
A set of 21 problems that reflect work at top PE and IB firms, DeepFinance is built using real deal data.
Problems are constructed by experts with backgrounds from top firms like Evercore, JPM and UBS, and institutions like HBS and Wharton. Problems represent work that would take human professionals 20-40 hours to complete.
Can AI really diligence a $100M+ deal? Finance benchmarks today are limited to evaluating agents on QA on financial docs or grading the numerical correctness of simple financial models. However, real world high finance work is full of assumptions and conflicting evidence. We built DeepFinance to realistically evaluate agents on those end-to-end finance workflows.

This is Dr. Renken. He grew up in a trailer park, worked at McDonald’s through dental school, and against all odds became a dentist.
He started practicing and eventually started his own practice. He has grown to 8 locations across the country. He runs one of the most profitable groups we work with.
We got to bring 30 dentists across the country to learn about his story and success. His primary motivation for it all? His daughter who was born with special needs whose photo greets every patient who walks through their doors.
Dr. Renken is a DayDreamer.
Congrats to the @corridor team AND @cognition
@jackhcable and @AshwinRamaswami genuinely are the most humble and talented cybersecurity minds of our generation
Proud investor, even prouder friend :)
Today, Cognition is acquiring @corridor.
Securing the world’s software is the most important problem in technology today.
Let’s get to work!
We see some dental practices who have patients whose LTV spans multiple lives…the grandparents go there, then their kids, and eventually their grandkids.
Those are special to be a part of.
Replying to @jeremiahjw
Dentists who own their practice are generally incentivized to build the firm’s long-term reputation over short-term. The LTV of a decade-long customer is higher than one who churns when they realize you were doing unnecessary work.
this is pretty embarrassing: I missed my dentist appointment yesterday in order to talk to other dentists.
only one dude on Earth who could discuss the Yeezus album, the intersection of creativity+crazy, and neurobiology in one swoop and win the Nobel Prize. It's this guy
“In many ways, we’re just getting going.”
Karl Deisseroth, professor of bioengineering and of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, shares the 2026 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine with two other researchers for their work in optogenetics, which makes it possible to switch on, or off, the activity of individual nerve cells in a living brain.

Throwback to 7 years ago, when @endpointarena and I thought that a conversation around LLMs and regulation might be worth having.
GPT-3 was ahead of its time.
Believe in the models. Buy the business. Own the outcome. Expand the margin. Grow the business in ways previously not possible.
Lots of people can talk about it, tweet about it....few do it.
Congrats @varunshenoy_ @0xtigs @sdand @m1chealz @prathiknaidu and all the other Long Lakers!
Today, Long Lake completed our $6.3B acquisition of Amex GBT.
Long Lake acquires and transforms generational businesses with AI across the American services economy.
Amex GBT is the travel partner for 17,500 businesses in 140 countries. Last year, Amex GBT booked 35 million trips for 10 million travelers.
This marks Long Lake’s 40th acquisition, and our family of companies now employs nearly 30,000 people.
We founded Long Lake three years ago with the thesis that AI is going to change every company, but there’s a large overhang between AI capabilities and how most businesses leverage AI tools.
We partner with strong, profitable, and growing businesses to help them deploy AI and improve their customer service.
Our first cohort of companies has doubled their EBITDA in less than two years through topline and productivity growth, all while increasing headcount. (We’re proud to say that we’ve never conducted a layoff.)
We’re excited to share a bit more about what we’ve been up to.
Congrats @dwarkesh_sp on becoming a partner at @8vc !!!
I'm proud to now be a Partner at @8VC, and I can't think of a better moment to be in this seat.
Startups are beautiful things designed to fight the inertia of the world, but they die if the world stands still. The question we ask every founder, "why now?", is a second-derivative one (incumbents handle a low, predictable rate of change just fine), so four years ago most pitches didn't have a great answer, and today these answers are inspiring and plentiful.
For years we argued for ideas outside consensus (that America needed to build again, that the legacy industries written off as bad software markets were exactly where AI would strip the tedium out of work). The Overton window has since moved our way, and more of the founders building in those markets now start with us.
Ambition has changed too. You used to wait for scaled PMF before shipping products 2 and 3, but software is now infinitely iterable (thanks @DevinAI), so the best teams chase the maximally ambitious version of their company far earlier, and the intensity of the work right now is contagious.
I'm an ambitious person myself, and I feel privileged to do this work at this moment. Thank you @JTLonsdale @AlexKolicich @andrewoetting and the whole 8VC team for the trust. Never been more optimistic.

*multibillion dollar business idea.
I like the way you think @defyneric
$100M business idea:
> acquire traditional medical billing companies
> replace manual billing workflows with AI agents
> add business banking
> add corporate cards + working capital
the average physician office in the US generates ~$2.3M in annual revenue.
which makes this an incredibly high net worth segment to target.
medical billing companies already sit directly in the flow of that money.
if you control how a medical practice gets paid, you’re in the perfect position to control where that money lives and how it gets spent.
use AI billing as the wedge.
own the banking relationship after.
banger of an idea.
Once a week, I had to take my mom to oncology appointments while helping run her dental practice. On those hour long drives, we’d listen to @myfirstmilpod. Such a huge fan of my @ShaanVP and @thesamparr , honored to be able to share the story.
invited 9 founders to pitch us in SF
we gave them 15 minutes, they gave us:
- their big number (revenue, etc)
- one problem they’re stuck on
- we try to solve it live
part 1 live now: youtu.be/m8iedLDiE0o?is=pnvF…
The greatest gifts my mom and dad have given me:
1. The gift of life
2. The gift of being raised in America
3. The gift of experiencing what is possible when you build a business that serves patients and helps communities
4. Fuzzy socks
@thesamparr @ShaanVP thank you for the shoutout.
