💡🏦 The ECB can fight inflation and accelerate the energy transition Happy to share my new new report with WWF-EU on how targeted ECB green refinancing operations could be designed to incentivize bank lending towards energy efficiency, storage, grids, renewables. #ECB

The Qatar LNG shutdown will cause problems for Europe, but it shouldn't just be another reactive situation. It should be a warning of what will happen if Trump plays his own LNG card against us. We have jumped from one dependency to another eurointelligence.com

The debate over central bank independence is too often polarized between uncritical defense and reckless dismissal. In this op-ed with Sebastian Mang we try to strike a balance, and argue that the best way to defend central bank independence is to reinvent it at the same time.
From the US to Turkey and the EU, the populist right has sought to capture central banks for partisan ends. But protecting central bank independence cannot mean defending the technocratic orthodoxy they rely on. greeneuropeanjournal.eu/why-…

On the downside, the low volume reflects the many practical difficulties by banks in complying with all EU Taxonomy criteria. On the upside, this implies the ECB could easily introduce green refinancing operation already, without compromising price stability. 😉

Vance and Trump resent Zelensky because he actually represents the courageous masculinity that they can only vicariously try to imitate in their cosy-rich privileged media world.

From today on I am putting my X account in "standby mode" and will now predominantly use bluesky and mastodon. Find me there: 🦋eupolicy.social/@stanjourdan 🐘bsky.app/profile/stanjourdan…

In practice: I am not shutting down this account, but will only use it in a passive way. I will sometimes consult my X timeline I will never RT, reply or like stuff here. I will always post first on bluesky/mastodon. In rare exceptions, I'll post on X with a 12+ hours delay

My goal is to avoid putting myself into a new social bubble yet, while creating incentives for my followers to follow and engage with me elsewhere. Let's see if this works!

Is euro zone unemployment rate unsustainably low? Does the record-low unemployment rate imply a tight labour market? I think the answer to both questions is “No”. A longish 🧵motivated by @BobEUnlimited. 1/

"many of the wealthy people supposedly going green still had high carbon footprints and consumption habits. Many poorer people by contrast were “reducing their carbon footprints out of bitter necessity instead of because they have embraced the idea”.

Europe is facing an enormous housing crisis. It’s good to see the parliament voting in favor of a special committee on the Housing Crisis. @GreensEFA will fight for affordable housing for all europeans. We need to end speculation and invest much more in affordable housing.
