When I've said this guy is a brilliant social commentator, better than he is a comedian, this is exactly what I mean 😂
Trevor Noah argues the Avengers are actually the bad guys
“The Avengers is the perfect allegory for the Democrats in America.”
“They like to fight against the bad guy, but they do not like to do anything to prevent bad guyness from happening again.”
“They’re not willing to sacrifice anything to prevent it from happening.”
“At least Thanos had a vision… He was willing to sacrifice something.”
Morgan Freeman is too old to be acting and should double-down on narrating documentaries. He's exceptionally good at that.
He also has a deep, soothing yet authoritative voice, almost God-like. When you watch his docs, it's like listening to God tell you about his creation.
They took too long to adopt AI, and when they finally did, they doubled down on it and priced themselves out.
Canva is cutting 22% of its staff as it faces its 'hardest year' yet.

If you’re a man and you’re struggling right now - just remember nobody cares and it gets worse.
Cheers.

There's a new kind of coding I call "vibe coding", where you fully give in to the vibes, embrace exponentials, and forget that the code even exists. It's possible because the LLMs (e.g. Cursor Composer w Sonnet) are getting too good. Also I just talk to Composer with SuperWhisper so I barely even touch the keyboard. I ask for the dumbest things like "decrease the padding on the sidebar by half" because I'm too lazy to find it. I "Accept All" always, I don't read the diffs anymore. When I get error messages I just copy paste them in with no comment, usually that fixes it. The code grows beyond my usual comprehension, I'd have to really read through it for a while. Sometimes the LLMs can't fix a bug so I just work around it or ask for random changes until it goes away. It's not too bad for throwaway weekend projects, but still quite amusing. I'm building a project or webapp, but it's not really coding - I just see stuff, say stuff, run stuff, and copy paste stuff, and it mostly works.
One person is responsible for refactoring an entire organization's legacy code? I'm going to closely monitor this over the next couple of months.
This is INSANE. Cisco’s president Jeetu Patel has given a 27-year-old engineer unlimited AI tokens to try to rewrite 98% of the company’s legacy code within 24 months, Fortune reports.
Padmanabhan Krishnamurthy thinks he can do it with a two-person team. He has just four weeks to prove the approach.
Oh, yes. Loving a woman correctly requires the courage to confront yourself first. You cannot embrace her softness while making her carry the weight of your unresolved wounds. In nurturing her femininity, you may discover the parts of your own masculinity that still need healing.
Private equity but make it ghetto
In some cases, when business owners shut down their operations because of extortion, the very same extortionists return with an offer to finance the reopening of those businesses. The criminals provide the capital, gain control of the business and reduce the original owner to an employee in what was once their own establishment.
This is particularly common in small businesses that sell alcohol and food.

Ever notice that in Dune humans fly spaceships between planets but don't use a single computer?
That's not a plot hole. It's completely on purpose. The movies barely explain why, but once you know, almost everything else in Dune starts to make sense.
About 10,000 years before Paul Atreides, humans did exactly what we're doing right now. They built thinking machines to make life easier. They let the machines do their work and make their decisions, hoping it would set them free.
Instead, the people who controlled those machines gained the power to enslave everyone else.
Humanity eventually fought back in a holy war called the Butlerian Jihad, and won. The thinking machines were destroyed.
To make sure it would never happen again, they made one rule sacred: "Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind."
But getting rid of computers created a problem: who would do their work? The answer was humans.
Mentats are trained from childhood to think like computers. Navigators use the spice to glimpse the future and steer ships safely through space. The Bene Gesserit spend generations pushing the human mind and body to their limits.
Every superpower in Dune exists for one reason: there are no computers.
That's my favorite thing about Dune. It's also the most terrifying. Dune isn't a future without AI. It's the future after AI.
Frank Herbert wrote that in 1965.

We just received court papers from the Minister of Police with instructions that we must be interdicted from Marching and we must not be allowed to organise a March, picket, motorcade or stage any of them, on top of that we must not go to a Home Affairs Department! On Friday we are in Court and we ask all Patriots who can make it to please support us against the Minister of Police and the President, that are abusing power and using the courts to strip us of our democratic right to Protest 🙏🏻🇿🇦
