Yesterday I asked my kindergartener what she did in school and she said "nothing," then later I went on Instagram and her teacher had posted a picture of her holding a crocodile.

I find myself with such mixed feelings when I read health professionals’ anguish over their, ‘previously healthy with no comorbidities,’ COVID-19 patients. I genuinely feel badly for them, for the patients & families, but deaths among those with comorbidities are not less tragic.

I love Scotland. It's absolutely chucking down rain, yet park still full of people running in t-shirt & shorts, kids playing football, fitness classes & dog-walkers. Somedays just need to make your own sunshine. ☀️

RT to congratulate Gio—he's doing great 2 months after his #BrainSurgery! After a ruptured #AVM left him in a coma for several weeks last year, Gio traveled with his parents from Florida to #SF for surgery with Dr. Abla! Now he's back to school, video games & trampoline jumping!

you can't keep things open and then blame people for going. and you can't expect people to wait hours/days for tests when they can't afford to take time away from work. this is public policy 101 and we're failing with heavy costs.

Just submitted my dossier for promotion to Associate Professor, and it seriously almost killed me. I'm not even kidding, it was like a combination of writing a major grant application, filling out 10 years of tax returns, and running for political office

Strongyloides hyperinfection has a high mortality rate and can be precipitated by corticosteroids, the risk of which seems independent of dose/duration. Those at moderate-high risk of strongyloidiasis requiring dexamethasone for #COVID19 should be considered for ivermectin.
1/ Strongyloides is a chronic parasitic worm infection relatively common in the tropics/subtropics. But it can be lethal in those starting steroids.
Dexamethasone (a steroid) is an effective #COVID19 treatment.
Uh oh.
A strategy for managing both:
