In reality, the effervescence and the revolutionary spirit have been kept alive by the women in the home. For revolutionary war is not the war of men.

What really stands out to me about Ta-Nahisi Coates is that he's not a radical. He just takes liberalism's self-professed ideals about liberty & democracy seriously & as a result won't accept the ugly contradictions at the heart of Western liberal-capitalism in action

People need to stop looking at lines like this and thinking wow this is so awesome so many people are voting and start seeing these insanely long lines as what they are- a form of voter suppression.

Remember to set your clocks back tonight from standard depression to seasonal depression.
I first heard ‘Sweet Liberty’ or ‘The Prayer of Sheil’ sung a cappella by Ian Lynch of Lankum, and was fascinated by it.
These words were written 200 years ago by Irish weaver and songwriter John Sheil and its attitude toward global solidarity in the face of oppression still resonates deeply today.
It felt an appropriate song to share on Monday night. Thank you to the wonderful @Meredi__ for arranging this song for strings and thank you again to @macklemore for putting together such an important evening.

Telling people about your work is a form of generosity. Somebody out there needs exactly what you made, and they can’t find it if you keep it to yourself.
It is deeply disappointing and disturbing to see this kind of Islamophobic harassment and hate play out on the streets of London, Ontario.
Just five years ago, a white supremacist drove his truck into a Muslim family in London, killing four members. He was radicalized by ideas of Muslims not belonging in Canada.
Such narratives are extremely dangerous, but they continue to animate an increasing number of Islamophobic incidents across both Ontario and Canada. They are threatening to become the new normal.
Canada must not stay silent in the face of this growing threat.
We call on all elected leaders to condemn this horrible incident, and to commit to sitting down with our communities to formulate a new way forward.
It is time to build out a new National Strategy on Combatting Islamophobia. It is time to stand together.

This obsession with trying to discredit people for being connected to the Muslim Brotherhood is batshit crazy.
Here’s why:
The US Democratic-Republican uni-party has been supporting a mass murderer in Egypt since 2013.
But it’s not the Muslim Brotherhood. It’s the enemy of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The mass murderer carried out the worst single day massacre in all of Egyptian history, murdering 1,000+ Egyptians in 24 hours in August 2013.
His name is Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He is Trump’s favorite dictator. Mike Rogers fucking loves this guy. Donald Trump loves him.
Why can’t mainstream media ask people like Mike Rogers why he loves mass murderers rather than trying to attack him for his comments on the VICTIMS of mass murder….
Mainstream media in the US is just chicken shit.

Important context on who's on bikes most often - migrants, racialized people, low-wage and gig workers - that is who Ford is after.
Doug Ford’s war on bike lanes isn’t about traffic—it’s part of a global right-wing backlash to vilify urban residents and defend fossil fuel interests

If you live outside of Toronto, the Ontario government is blowing $50 million of you tax dollars on ripping bike lanes out of Toronto. This is money that could be spent on keeping your local hospital's ER open or fixing your local school's roof.
