Trucking and farming are very similar.

Brix is often presented as an indicator of plant health. However, after more than 1,000 measurements, our conclusion is quite different: Brix reflects the juice extraction method, not the health status of the plant.

Soil Health is an illusion with constant plateaus of ‘back patting’
Soil Care is real and very definable which creates soil functionality and resilience

My definition is pretty loose - not overly scientific - just whether we’re maintaining and/or building soil vs losing/degrading it. I think we get so caught up in numbers and tests and bullshit but I’m more concerned about trends and the long-term. Are we improving it or not?

New energy is needed and youth is required to stave off the entropy of our sclerotic agriculture system.

Regenerative agriculture is not difficult to achieve with just livestock, but a whole different challenge with annual crops.

Land access and land affordability is what really stops most from attempting. Let’s be honest, how much agriculture of the status quo would we have if they had to start today without paid for land? /3

To whom it may concern: stop applying Jena experiment results to crop production.
-Farmers use managed, intelligent species selection; mixtures must beat the best monocultures, not the average of all monocultures as ecology measures it.
-Biodiversity benefits in ecological research take 3–5+ years to emerge in perennial systems; this tells us nothing about annual crops or cover crops.
-Ecological research finds that biodiversity correlates with benefits, not what causes them, and without knowing the mechanism, farmers have no basis for action.

Without glyphosate farmers can absolutely grow multispecies cover crops.
Who in the world is coming up with this garbage?
Farmers are developing complex cover crops. Some seeds nourish the soil, some with deep roots aerate it, some deter pests that threaten the incoming crop. Some provide pollen for bees.
Without glyphosate, farmers can't grow these multi-specie crops

Dear ranchers: it’s not news to you that you’re under attack. You are getting the business end of the stick that’s already been used against every other sector of ag over the last 6 decades.
Here’s how it’s going to go. Plant closes, beef prices rise, more imports. Capacity doesn’t come back, herd shrinks, cattle prices plummet. Downward spiral.
Hey, now we have a new push for fake meat, by corporations owned by the same over-corporations. Now they get a greenwash and bring lefties on board.
This is a bipartisan assault. The “free market” (TM) and climate change are both weaponized against you. To be honest, you’ve been hostile to the left, but you’ve allowed the right to sell you out, completely
The farm bureau isn’t your friend. The check off orgs definitely aren’t. Pete Ricketts isn’t. Chuck Grassley definitely isn’t. The GOP and the Democrats have both collaborated to all but destroy independent US agriculture as a backbone of our communities and made it into a rural resource extraction program
The cowboys are positioned to make a last stand for our rural economies, but only if we figure out who the real enemy is and stop falling for partisan and ideological bullshit.

2020 same time of year:
Corn - 2% lower
Urea - 75% higher
UAN - 173% higher
NH3 - 125% higher
DAP - 117% higher
MAP - 91% higher
Potash - 1% lower
That was depressing to do and also:

Thank you Cracker Barrel. I have been crying and throwing up nonstop since you changed your logo. To you it’s just a logo, but to me it has a much deeper meaning. When I was 14 I choked on a steak bone in your restaurant and had to get rushed to the hospital. You might be thinking that’s a bad thing but in reality it saved my life. When I was in the hospital while they were doing x rays they found a kidney stone in my eye and if it wouldn’t have been removed I would be blind out of one eye. Because of this Cracker Barrel has always had a special place in my heart and it hurt to see you guys change the logo like that
