🚨wtf. OpenAI says its new internal model it began training just 24 days ago has already resolved more than 100 long-standing open problems across most areas of mathematics.
The pace has surprised even OpenAI's own mathematicians.
An independent group including Edward Witten, Timothy Gowers and Martin Hairer is now helping assess the results and coordinate how they are released.
We’re working with an independent advisory group of mathematicians to help OpenAI responsibly share advances in AI and mathematics.
The group will advise on how we assess and communicate new mathematical results, uphold academic and professional standards, and build tools that support mathematical research and learning.
Through this work, we want mathematicians to be at the center of shaping how AI supports mathematical understanding and how its benefits reach the wider community.

Britain is broke. I know you'll all arrive saying "countries can't go broke" but that is, frankly, a load of gibbering toss.
Because we are broke, we can't afford our government and the collection of entitlements, jobs and pensions that government represents.
This doesn't start with the current shower but goes back to the execution of Thatcherism in 1990. Replaced with an ideology based on the idea that the state must direct - run - the economy. That we can borrow and tax our way to prosperity. That entrepreneurship is a myth. That all business success is based on rents. And that property development, underwritten by government using regulation to pump values, is the most important business activity.
Meanwhile politicians pretended there was a bottomless brunch of resources with which they can indulge special interests, buy of voter groups, pander to ethnicities and promise an endless cornucopia of entitlements, subsidies and gratis payments.
This won't change because there's always a convenient boogeyman to blame - brown people, free trade, Donald Trump, Davos, the banks, landlords, even the weather.
The real problem is you and me. We'll be first to the barricades to defend the old age pension triple lock, the anti-growth planning system, child benefits, free child care, free travel for the growing number of vaguely neurodiverse kids, subsidised trains and buses.
We can't afford our government but we aren't prepared to admit this. Worse we like politicians to either blame someone else or tell us it'll be fine we aren't as broke as it looks. We are cooked.

Właśnie Pan premier oznajmił że w ocenie wywiadów w rosyjskim planie są uderzenia dronami i pociskami manewrującym na państwa wspierające Ukrainę w tym na Polskę.
Po pierwsze: nie da się jaśniej przekazać ostrzeżenia niż zrobił to premier.
Po drugie: jest to całkowicie zbieżne z ocenami zachodnich partnerów Polski oraz części ośrodków analitycznych. Przykładem dziś ISW wypuścił analizę dokładnie to przewidującą.
Po drzecie: takie plany Rosji nie są zaskoczeniem. Rosja wciąż, mimo horrendalnych strat nie jest w stanie wygrać z Ukrainą militarnie na polu walki. Jednocześnie Ukraina nie jest w stanie walczyć bez pomoc państw zachodnich. Dlatego Rosja chce sterroryzować, przestraszyć i zasiać ferment społeczny w krajach zachodu aby owe pod naciskiem opinii publicznej (wyborców) zerwały pomoc dla Ukrainy. Pomoc bez której Ukraińcy nie zdołają się dalej zwycięsko bronić.
Rosja po prostu chce zrobić to samo co islamiści w Madrycie w 2004 roku kiedy seria krwawych zamachów w metrze wpłynęła na wynik wyborów a nowy rząd wycofał Hiszpanów z Iraku.
Dla Rosji JEDYNYM progiem jest tutaj uruchomienie artykułu 5 i wojna pełnoskalowa z NATO. Dlatego będziemy mieć do czynienia z serią brutalnych aktów terroru w Polsce i krajach NATO oraz licznych "przypadkowych" awarii rakiet i dronów które zaczną spadać na Bałtyki, Polskę a może i inne kraje.
Odpowiedź powinna być jednoznaczna, silna, brutalna i pod parasolem atomowym Francji, ponieważ tylko takie działanie Kreml zrozumie.
Rosja już podpala fabryki w Polsce, wysyła celowo pociski manewrujące i drony oraz usiłowała spowodować katastrofę na kolei w której mogły zginąć setki Polaków. A będzie tyko gorzej.
I nie, deklaracja premiera to nie jest jakaś próba wywołania "efektu flagi" - za wcześnie przed wyborami - takie aluzje są absurdalne po protu patrząc na zachowania przedwyborcze.
To jest po protu do bólu jasno i przejrzyście sformułowane ostrzeżenie dla Polaków o tym co zmierza Rosja. Odpowiedź powinna być inna niż strach i dzielenie się. Bo dokładnie tego chce Kreml.
Czekają nas po prostu ciężkie czasy których winna będzie tylko i wyłącznie Rosja - kraj który najpierw wywołał napastniczą wojnę aby podbić Ukrainę a obecnie eskaluje konflikt w nadziei że terrorem wymusi zaprzestanie pomocy dla Ukrainy.
Nie miejcie złudzeń - na liście podbojów Kremla Polska jest nr.3 po Ukrainie i Bałtykach. Wspierając Kijów i stając w obronie Bałtyków tak naprawdę walczymy o Warszawę.

AI could design a dangerous molecule or a virus or a bio weapon.
That matters.
But we need to stop confusing designing something with doing something.
AI can design a cancer drug.
Cancer isn’t cured.
AI can design a new material.
The material doesn’t exist.
AI can design a toxic molecule.
That doesn’t make it a chemical weapon.
Someone still has to make it.
Purify it.
Test it.
Scale it.
And prove it actually works.
AI is collapsing the cost of generating ideas.
It is not collapsing the laws of physics.
And if we want a serious conversation about AI risk, that distinction matters.
