Its a Foley catheter balloon inflated in the aorta. Tore into the aorta on reentry and the Foley was used to tamponade the bleed while groins were cannulated and patient was placed on bypass, cooled then circ arrested. Foley, more than just for the bladder!

Extripation of infected tissue prior to implantation of new valve paramount to prevent reinfection. TAVR to rescue pt with bacterial AV I/E, severe AI, biV failure, MOF. 2 mos later, pt presents with TAVR I/E. TAVR easily removed->bioAVR #echofirst @UWMedheart @donoxorn
