Zia Yusuf went on GMB with Ranvir Singh and Kate Garraway, and they could not wait to get him on his post about Labour’s Somali-born candidate for Starmer’s old seat. 😡 He came on to talk about the boats. They just wanted to talk about a three-week-old post. Yusuf tried to answer. He said being born abroad does not mean you cannot be a patriotic British person, but pointed out that there are more foreign nationals living in Britain than at any point in our history, and more MPs born abroad than at any point in modern history and people are deeply concerned. He then gave an example of MPs fighting for causes in other countries instead of serving British interests. They did not want that conversation. They were already wound up. They talked over him, cut across him, and treated every attempt to explain as deflection. It did not look like an interview. It looked like an ambush by two presenters who had already decided they disliked him.
