and having a green light pedestrians is very rarely fully protected, and still requires turning vehicles to yield for pedestrians which simply does not happen.
Very have a structural and systemic issue of everything putting cars first and anything else second.
Spoke with the bus manager at Hatfield. Buses ARE running this route but just that specific service I wanted to use was cancelled. Now I’m on an a bus that’s either 10 minutes late or 20 minutes early leaving the departure point…so confusing.
So apparently the route is missing the last 8 or so stops but is not announced ANYWHERE, even the station staff were confused, eventually someone at the station could tell me it’s been for a while & until further notice. This is why the service is in decline and ridership is 📉📉

@TheGautrain what are the deviations on H2 buses? I had a bus not pitch, staff at station don’t know anything then I heard an announcement saying something about stops being missed but it was cut off.
Why is this cancelled?? This is one way to lose trust and make sure people don’t use it again…imagine getting there and then being stranded @TheGautrain ?? Personally seeing this makes me not want to rely on Gautrain to events…

While Gauteng is set to expand the Gautrain to another airport, Cape Town's only public transport connection to its only major airport is shuttered.
*CT runs public transport better than many, but it is not immune to failures and political apathy towards public transport.
This is really interesting data, and visualised in a really digestible way!
@TheGautrain unlocks most of the distance due to the speed of the service. @PRASA_Group @GPMetrorail will also contribute to this distance as the signalling improvements bear yield.
Right now the scheduled times of Metrorail make the train travel at 40-60kmh on most segments.
Great to see @MyCiTiBus making use of the strike through cancelled services feature on Google maps for routes not operating during the cycle tour
