At SEMA, we believe that listening is an investment in peace. A conversation can save a life. During this World Suicide Prevention Day, we are reminded that behind every silence is a story, and behind every person may be a struggle we cannot see. Suicide prevention is not only about responding to crisis. It is also about creating communities where people feel heard, supported and safe enough to say, “I am not okay.” #suicidepreventionday2026 #youmatter

Earlier today, SEMA convened a performance review meeting with the @PoliceUg to present and discuss the findings from community members’ experiences following the receipt of services at select police stations. The analysis focused on key dimensions of service delivery, including client satisfaction, waiting times, accessibility, accountability, efficiency, inclusivity and productivity. The meeting brought together Deputy Police Commanders (DPCs), Regional Police Commanders (RPCs), Community Liaison Officers (CLOs), Officers in Charge (OCs), and Directors of various departments at Police Headquarters. The engagement provided an opportunity to review performance trends from police stations where SEMA has systematically collected client feedback during the year, including Kajjansi, Kayunga, Wandegeya and Old Kampala, among others. Participants reviewed the findings and reflected on the performance of the respective stations, with particular attention to areas requiring improvement. The discussions provided an opportunity to identify persistent service delivery challenges, examine their underlying factors, and consider appropriate measures to address the gaps highlighted through community feedback. As part of the agreed way forward, SEMA will undertake capacity-building sessions for the respective police stations to strengthen their capacity to analyse, interpret and utilise community feedback and other performance data for informed decision-making and targeted service improvements. For SEMA, this is an important step in closing the feedback loop, ensuring that community voices do not simply inform reports, but contribute to better decisions, stronger accountability and improved public service delivery. #feedbackmatters #accountabilty #communityvoices #datatoaction
