Day 2⃣ kicked off with an inspiring session by @MamaES on understanding #GBV in armed conflict, fragile, or crisis settings as a strategy to achieving peaceful and inclusive societies in Africa.
@Gwendolyn then guided participants through youth participation from an intersectional lens, showing how diverse identities strengthen engagement in peacebuilding. She reminded the youth of the power of their voices in advocacy, stressing: “You don’t just speak – you speak when it’s time to speak.” Building on this, #Ali led future leaders through #Elections, #Conflicts & #Youth: Risks and Opportunities, examining the link between elections, potential conflict, and the vital role of youth in driving peaceful transitions.

Adding to #Ali’s inputs, #Viola (@UNDP) explored Conflict Prevention, Mediation & Post-Conflict Recovery, spotlighting youth-driven approaches from AU & UN perspectives.
@Hasnaa (@CairoPeaceKeep) linked peacebuilding to AU #Agenda2063, the #SDGs2030, and the #GPBA2025, while @Gwendolyn showcased a successful youth-led peacebuilding case study. The day wrapped up with #Ali leading a dynamic session on designing #RegionalYouthActionPlans for Peacebuilding, equipping youth with tools to craft actionable strategies tailored to their contexts.

There is a vacuum of guiding documents that provide both youth as well as the African Union and Its organs/institutions information and parameters to engage in the innovation space in their respective mandates.
The Guide on Youth Innovation will bridge that gap.
