This week, we joined @SEATINIUGANDA, @Diakonia, @eacsof for a critical Regional Dialogue on advancing women workers’ rights & corporate accountability in large-scale commercial investments across the EAC. Investment without #accountability is just exploitation.
TATIC collaborated with @UwekezajiTZ on a critical capacity-building session with representatives from the Central Zone Local Government Authorities (LGAs) to address the evolving landscape of International Investment Agreements (IIAs).
The role of local governance in safeguarding national interests has never been more pivotal. The training organisers focused on equipping LGA officials with the tools to balance the challenges of attracting and protecting investments in this era of evolving IIAs globally.

Ahead of the First Conference on transitioning away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta, over 340 civil society groups from around the globe are calling on governments to put an end to ISDS, which lets corporations sue host countries. #SayNoToISDS
Group sessions brought participants into dialogue on International Investment Agreements (IIAs), focusing on their implications for labour and human rights in Tanzania and identifying approaches to balance the interests of investors and the host country.
There should be a clarification that governments have the right to regulate in the public interest, even if this means infringing on the rights of foreign investors, removing regulatory chill.
Day two of training and dialogue focused on strengthening understanding of International Investment Agreements (IIAs) and their implications for labour and human rights in Tanzania.
