🗣️ “I have to be honest, Unai Simón is a very good goalkeeper, but David Raya deserved this award more. You cannot call someone the best goalkeeper in the world based on a few World Cup performances alone.
Raya won the Premier League and reached the Champions League final. Unai Simón had a good World Cup, but are we really going to ignore an entire season of football because of eight games?
If the award is based mainly on the World Cup, then why not just call it the World Cup Goalkeeper of the Year? Simón didn’t even win La Liga’s Best Goalkeeper award or make the Team of the Season.
And if winning the World Cup is enough to decide individual awards, then why didn’t Lamine Yamal win the Ballon d’Or? You have to be consistent. These awards should recognise a player’s performances across the season, not just a few weeks at one tournament.”
