Excellent analysis! The historical themes repeat and the calcified ruling class is so isolated from the common citizens that they don’t see the coming revolution and civil war! THERE IS NO VESPASIAN WAITING IN THE WINGS TO SAVE THE US!

Canceling student debt would free up money for rent, savings, and starting families. That's an affordability plan.

Currently, there are protests in France to fund education, in Spain to fund decent housing for all, and in Germany to oppose military expansion. People in Europe are waking up and realizing their governments serve capital and war, not people. Time for Americans to wake up too.

Just a reminder that the main reason that Colleges are so expensive in this country is that they are filled with useless administrators.

BREAKING: The public urinal installations with pictures of Trump’s face in Omaha, Wichita, and Des Moines that let you pee on them for $1 to raise money for the farmers and ranchers he bankrupted are now selling beer too to both raise more money and induce greater urinary volume.

Willett? No, he was the head of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health but retired... he is just a nasty plant-based pusher with seed oils.

In grade school, I typically ate a convenience breakfasts. Cereal, bananas, toast, oatmeal, pop tarts, granola bars, juice and milk were staples. Unfortunately, by 10:30 I was famished and counting the minutes until lunch. Everyone around me claimed I had a hollow leg or a tapeworm and it took until I was in my late 40s before I figured out the problem wasn't a caloric one. The problem was that my typical breakfast lacked protein and fat. Simple as that. Don't believe me? I challenge you to eat bacon and eggs every morning for a week. I bet you get further and further into the day before you realize you're not actually that hungry. There's really no reason you shouldn't be able to make it at least 6-7 hours on 4 pieces of bacon and 4 eggs.

I’ve never met Don Rittner, but he wrote the nicest thing about my journey to where I am today, covering ORES (Office of Renewable Energy Siting) and irresponsible renewable energy destruction of Upstate NY yesterday. It’s in The Saratogian. Don goes through my story of how I bought undeveloped land in 2023 to start a small (pollinator) farm and learn how to work the land. Along the way, three different people came to me to share stories and concerns about solar sprawl. By the third person asking me to get involved, I could take a divine hint. I don’t believe in coincidences. I’ve been covered very negatively by local, up through national, press since I started reporting on what’s happening to Upstate NY. But, I knew what I signed up for - and that for whatever reason - I had the background and support team to see this through. Don, if you follow me on here, thank you for such a perfect summary of how I find myself right where I am today. I appreciate your public support, especially as the former Schenectady County Historian.

watching NYPD Blue it occurs to me that being a homicide detective is great for making new friends - getting to accost strangers and ask them all sorts of awkward questions about their past.

In response people cut back to the minimum on services they need; buy cheaper meat; overall make do with less; etc.

My sister's longtime dentist practice got bought out by a private equity-backed dental group four months ago. Same office. Same hygienists. Same chairs. Zero new equipment. Last week they sent the new fee schedule for anyone with insurance. A routine cleaning that used to run $120 is now billed at $310, with the group quietly dropping several insurance plans they used to accept. When patients asked why, the new regional manager gave a scripted line about "aligning with market standards." Private equity figured out the same trick everywhere. They're buying up the things you can't opt out of: dental, veterinary care, urgent care, hospice, because they know you can't just skip your kid's cavity or your dog's surgery. This isn't inflation. It's leveraged debt getting loaded onto places you have no choice but to keep paying.

To paraphrase John Abramason, an academic lecturer in the Department of Health Care Policy and Harvard Medical school: Medical knowledge in the US is under corporate control. John Abramson’s point should unsettle everyone because when medical knowledge becomes a commercial asset, there's a financial incentive to teach us what's profitable instead of what's true. Corporations fund the studies, they write the press releases, they shape the guidelines and they define/redefine the "facts" we’re all supposed to believe. To give you an example, just look at the definition of “vaccination,” before and after COVID. It went from something that provided immunity to something that provided protection. That shift wasn't scientific. It was strategic. Anyway, if corporations own the evidence, they own the conclusions and then they rent them back to us as part of our "education." Once you see it, it’s hard to unsee it, because it’s everywhere you look.

in the old days people were executed by beheading, firing squad, and hanging. gruesome, but it was rare for such an execution to be botched. in our modern era we used gas chambers, electric chairs, and lethal injection, and the number of botched executions has skyrocketed.
