Human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari-Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha deserve justice. Today they were sentenced to ten years in prison on counts of “terrorism.” Their crime? Defending activists, lawyers and marginalized communities that were subjected to enforced disappearances and unjust charges.
They underwent an unfair trial for this fearless human rights work. Authorities must immediately release Imaan and Hadi and drop all charges against them.
Media, liberals & Aurat March are completely silent today.
Imran Khan’s sisters, who are elderly women, have been in jail for over a month despite having committed no crime and having absolutely nothing to do with politics. Yet, they continue to be held in detention. Noreen Khan’s health has also deteriorated in jail, and she has been shifted to a hospital.
If any of them were women from PML-N, these hypocrites would have declared an apocalypse by now. We live in a hypocritical society where people speak up only when it serves their own interests.
Imran Khan’s entire family, none of whom have anything to do with politics, is being targeted in an attempt to force him to surrender.

My mother @DrUzma_KhanPK, has been held in Kot Lakhpat Jail since 21 September.
She has not been charged with any crime. She is detained under 3-MPO, a colonial era public-order law that lets a deputy commissioner jail a citizen for 30 days on a police recommendation, and then extend it.
Her first order expired on 20 October. The Punjab government has renewed it for another 30 days.
Her sisters @Aleema_KhanPK and @Noreen_KhanPK are held under the same law. Noreen was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology without her family being told she was unwell or that she was being moved. No one has been allowed to see her.

If he’s safe as you claim, why is the regime ignoring the Supreme Court’s order to have him assessed in a private hospital (Shifa International), rather than by stooges at a government facility? Why haven’t they allowed anyone to see him since August? Even murderers are granted these most basic of rights in prison. They’re clearly hiding something, as they could easily dispel people’s concerns if their claims that we are lying are true.
Remember, when PTI was in power, Nawaz Sharif, who, unlike my father, is genuinely corrupt - as proven by the Panama Papers - was allowed to travel to London for medical reasons while serving his prison sentence and remained there, living in luxury for 4 years. Yet these fascists fear my father so much that they won’t even allow him a visit from his own doctors or an assessment at a private hospital IN Pakistan, as ordered by the highest court in the country. Why are you so desperate to cheerlead for a fascist regime?

It has been more than 24 hours since reports reached Mehmood Achakzai that Imran Khan is being physically tortured, threatened, and blackmailed in jail, yet no action has been taken by the PTI's top leadership, including him.
This is how such things are normalized. Perhaps they only shared the news to see what the public and the leadership would do, but everyone is asleep.
You may get angry at me for saying this, but the harsh truth is that both the leadership and we, the public, are waiting for Imran Khan's funeral, wondering when his body will come out so we can go and attend it.
Imran Khan has given all the instructions for the long march to Mehmood Achakzai and Allama Nasir, yet all they have done so far is issue statements, condemn the situation, and make threats. Beyond that, they have taken no concrete action.

No one has seen or heard from my father since August, when he explicitly said that he was being tortured and that the regime was trying to kill him like Egypt’s government did Morsi. The UN Special Rapporteur on torture has repeatedly stated that his treatment amounts to torture. Pakistan’s fascist regime, led by military dictator Asim Munir, continue to ignore the Supreme Court order from August for my father to be assessed and treated at the private Shifa International Hospital, as well as for regular access to family visits and access to his lawyers. It is clear that they are trying to kill him as he is by far the most popular political figure in the country, and they fear him. If the worst happens, no one should make any mistake who is responsible. It is Asim Munir with the approval of the illegitimate Pakistani government. Every government that continues to legitimise this regime will be complicit in this and the resulting chaos and destabilisation it causes in the region. No state that is engaging in friendly relations with this fascist Pakistani regime can truly claim to uphold the values of democracy or human rights.

Imran Khan’s sister, Noreen Khan, is in the ICU, and the doors are being kept tightly locked with bolts and chains, as if this elderly woman poses a threat to them or is somehow going to escape from the hospital while fighting for her life.
Uzma Khan’s husband and Noreen Khan’s daughter are waiting outside the ICU ward, but they are not being allowed to see her.
What are they so afraid of? She is lying in the ICU. She is 71 years old. Why so much police presence? Why so much security and protocol? And, above all, why is she being denied the right to see her own family?

Noreen Niazi, 70, has been detained for more than a month under Pakistan’s public-order law. Today, she was transferred to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology after suffering heart issues.
Her nephew says the family learned about it through social media, rushed to the hospital, and found police blocking them from seeing her. The door to the ward is even guarded and chained shut!!
What is her condition? Why weren’t they informed? Why can’t they see her?
Keeping a family in the dark while their 70-year-old relative is hospitalized from detention is deeply disturbing.

For the past few hours, we have been receiving deeply concerning reports circulating on social media that my aunt, @Noreen_KhanPK Noreen Niazi, has been admitted to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
Our family was never informed.
We are now standing outside her ward trying to establish her medical condition. The ward door has been chained shut, with police preventing us, her own family, from entering or seeing her.
We are extremely concerned for her health and wellbeing.
My aunt has already endured more than a month in detention, isolated from her family. Now, even in hospital, we are being denied access to her.
What is her medical condition? Why was her family not informed? On whose orders are we being prevented from seeing her?
We demand immediate access to my aunt, a full medical update from her treating doctors, and assurances that she is receiving all necessary medical care.

عمران خان کا سیاسی خوف ریاست کے اعصاب پر اس حد تک سوار ہے کہ اسکی بہن کی علالت بھی اہلِ خانہ کو اطلاع دینے اور ملاقات کرانے کے بجائے پہرے بڑھانے پر توجہ مرکوز کہ ریادت خوفزدہ ہے۔
کوٹ لکھپت جیل جس میں پچھلے چند ہفتوں دوران چار قیدیوں کی پُراسرار موت کی خبریں آ چکی ہوں، وہاں کسی عزیزہ کی بیماری کی اطلاع اہلِ خانہ میں سے کسی کو نہ دینا اور میڈیا کے ذریعہ معلوم ہونا ، گھر والوں پر کیا قیامت ڈھاتا ہے، اس کا اندازہ بالم نہیں کر سکتا؟ اقتدار کی لالچ اعر نشہ وقتی تسکین کے سامنےآئین ، اقدار، جان، رشتے اور بنیادی حقوق سب بے وقعت ہیں؟
