I’m not there and I’m not reporting from the scene. But since last night I’ve been reading pretty much everything I could find in Ukrainian and Russian, watching the videos and talking to few military friends. It was now established, the people held in that building were not civilians grabbed off the streets for forced mobilization. They were military personnel who had deserted and agreed to return to service rather than face prison for desertion. Now, a few things about the people outside the building really caught my attention. First, the woman presenting herself as an ambulance worker. It was quickly established by Ukrainian journalists that she doesn’t work for an ambulance service and the private company she claimed to represent doesn’t appear to exist. She’s is the source of the stories about “torture chambers” and a “broken spine”. Then there’s the young guy who was brought out of the building looking absolutely horrifying. Except that a few minutes earlier, you can see him climbing the fence, filming himself, screaming insults at military personnel, throwing things at them. Apparently he then fell from the fence into the compound and was taken inside. On one of the videos Budanov asks him: “What are you doing here? How did you end up here?” “I came here with the guys, he says. And then there are those one or two voices you can hear in almost every video. Every time someone from the military comes out and tries to calm things down and answer questions, these same voices start shouting insults and trying hard to turn it into a confrontation, screaming phrases like « you torture people » etc. Look, mobilization is one of the most painful and controversial issues in Ukraine during this war. Could Ukraine fight a war of this scale with volunteers alone? I genuinely don’t know. I’m not an expert and won’t pretend I have arguments about this. But that’s not what this particular episode is about. Watching it spread everywhere, especially through accounts that constantly push anti-Ukrainian narratives, I wanted to understand what happened. And the more I look, the more it seems someone found out where deserters were being held and decided to put on a show. Quickly, cheaply, with a few very active badly prepared characters and plenty of cameras. Can I prove it was organized? No. But the details are strange enough to question the story being sold on X. And while this whole episode is being shared and discussed everywhere… 29 people are reported dead after yesterday’s Russian bombing of Komyshuvakha. Another 48 are missing. 29 dead. 48 missing. And somehow this is barely a story. Of course we should talk about mobilization. Of course we should investigate abuses by Ukrainian military authorities. Nobody gets a free pass because there’s a war. But look at the difference.A few videos, some unverified accusations against Ukrainian soldiers, and suddenly everyone is outraged. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone wants answers. Russia bombs Ukrainians. People are killed. Others are missing under the rubble. And where is that same outrage? That same obsession with every detail? Apparently, the possibility of a Ukrainian soldier being a criminal is more interesting than the certainty of Russia killing Ukrainians.

I try to function but yesterday russia burnt a man alive in his car. He was just driving in Kyiv and russian terrorists slammed a Shahed into his car. Passersby broke the windshield and tried to extinguish the flames but it was too late. Just normal people, like you and me.

A glimpse look at the one of the ambulances that you donated money for in memory of @Justadutchguy We hope that he would have enjoyed it. These ambulances should have never existed, but you know, sometimes life happens. Last days were emotional as we kept going through all the events and shared memories of us. @lotta_love43 our hearts are with you always. As well as with Andries’ family. And #fellas we need to make it to 3 cars, so please donate via link if you haven’t done so yet or willing to donate another time. gofund.me/f4380189f #andries #supportUkraine #standwithUkraine #NAFO

Everyone in the #USA need to see this. One day after @POTUS lifts sanctions on russian diesel fuel, a mother in Zaporizhzhia holds her child’s hand as they are murdered by russians. The USA signed the Budapest Memorandum giving #Ukraine security guarantees and now your country is aiding the invaders.

Bucha was documented by survivors, journalists, investigators and satellite imagery. Years later, the Kremlin is still trying to make the evidence disappear through repetition. Denial does not erase the record.

Why don't Western news outlets report daily on the humanitarian situation in occupied Oleshky? Russia is letting 6,000 Ukrainians starve. According to the local military administration, no food supplies have reached the city since May 26. There are even reports of families eating dogs out of desperation. Where are the complete idiots who claim Russia wants peace? No, Russia wants to wipe out Ukraine.

Where are the movie stars? Where are the campus encampments, the screaming crowds, the protests demanding the world act NOW? Children are starving in Oleshky. Old people are dying in Oleshky. Why? Because Russia occupies this Ukrainian city. Food cannot get in. People cannot safely get out. The roads are mined. Humanitarian access is blocked. People are scavenging for something, anything, to eat. @POTUS @jaredkushner @SEPeaceMissions - you did this for Gaza. You got food to the hungry, and medicine to the sick. Open the roads. Allow humanitarian aid in. Let the children and elderly leave.

Russia had a chance after 1991 to look forward. Instead it chose imperial maps and millions dead in the mud. It burned 21st-century wealth on a 19th-century map & threw away its 22nd century. The world is laughing at the “great power” drag itself back to the Stone Age.

What’s happening in Oleshky: a 🧵 Oleshky is a city on the Left Bank of the Kherson Region in Ukraine, formerly around 20,000-30,000 residents, now down to 2000-3000 due to the occupation.

A city with almost no safe way out. This is the reality today in occupied Oleshky. Ukraine is ready to carry out a humanitarian evacuation of civilians. The ICRC is ready to assist. However, Russia has still not provided the necessary security conditions. People remain effectively trapped, without adequate access to food, drinking water, and medicines, while facing the constant threat of shelling and drone attacks. In desperation, some are trying to escape on their own — even through mined areas. This puts their lives at direct risk. I continue to insist on the immediate humanitarian evacuation of civilians. People must not be held hostage to occupation.

🚨 #NAFOArticle5! Fellas, we need all hands on deck for the next two months. Russia is really ramping up the disinformation ahead of the US midterms. Every single political post is getting bot-swarmed. We need Republicans to lose so Trump can be impeached. It's do-or-die time.
