I just reqatched Holmes vs Mercer this weekend and Larry really did give a master class on fighting smart. People were legit scared for his life after what Mercer did to Morrison but Larry never flinched. Legend.
Larry Holmes was a master of the sweet science🥊 🔥 Even late in his career, he showed the experience, ring IQ and toughness that made him a heavyweight great. Happy birthday to The Easton Assassin🎂👑

My favorite Bill Murray story isn't a behind the scenes one, it's a crank call he'd constantly pull on his buddy Mitch Glazer, co-writer of Scrooged. Mitch is married to actress Kelly Lynch, and Bill said whenever he'd catch the movie ROAD HOUSE on tv, which Lynch starred in as Patrick Swayze's love interest, he'd call Mitch from a random line so Mitch wouldn't know who was calling, and when Mitch would pick up, Bill would whisper: "Mitch, quick, turn on TBS. Kelly's having sex with Patrick Swayze against a rock wall right now." and hang up. Another time when the movie aired, Bill called and said, "They're doing it again. I don't know how you can handle this." and hang up. This would go on for years everytime Road House played on tv. Finally when Mitch realized it was Bill Murray, Bill got his brother Brian Doyle Murray in on it, and when Mitch picked up, Brian would say, "TBS. Road House. Stop it before it's too late." 😂

Happy 77th birthday to Sir Larry Holmes. Who could forget heavyweight boxing’s greatest 15th round finale! He and Ken Norton poured every last drop out here. Like Rock ‘em Sock ‘em Robots! ❤️ youtu.be/XXoVawft4HQ?is=UFEs…

Remember when he stopped the fight and took a point from MVP for pretending to take a selfie

Oh man I am going to be wasting a lot of time on this.
Very cool: "Arkivism is a search and visual discovery engine for millions of public domain works from the collections of the Smithsonian, The Met, NASA, Library of Congress, National Gallery of Art and more." (via @kottke) arkivism.com/explore

My favorite Halloween story: one year my friend David dressed as Laura Palmer (wrapped in plastic, dead leaves etc), and no one recognized the costume until we passed a drag queen who pointed at her giant fake boobs and yelled "Hey Laura, get a load of these twin peaks!"

Patrick Stewart's stories from DUNE are pretty great. There's a whole thing about how David Lynch was disappointed when he showed up because ... well, I won't spoil it. And then this, on his first conversation with Sting, is quite funny:
Patrick Stewart was amazing, a bygone sort of actor with working-class ethics and classical aesthetics. One of the most generally beloved men in Hollywood. Could play a nasty villain! Great actor, he will be missed. thebulwark.com/p/patrick-ste…

Trump: Arnold Palmer was all man. This man was strong and tough. And I refuse to say it, but when he took showers with the other pros, they came out of there and said, 'Oh my god. That's unbelievable.'
