I appreciated @annelongfield’s really excellent answer to my question in a committee meeting today about the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill. Play sufficiency and a national play strategy would be superb first steps towards improving our playgrounds.

One of the artists involved in the Cambridge Playlaws is Pippa Hale, she's been busy in Leeds in the last week too, with the launch of a major new public art sculpture 'Ribbons' bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c148…

A symbolic act may be to remove No Ball Games signs. How about replacing with locally suggested alternatives? Like ‘Jumpers for Goalposts’ as suggested by resident Owen. Now a real plaque with QR code on Parker’s Piece, Cambridge cambridgeplaylaws.fun/playma… @ThePlaylaws

2) Wow what a shot! This is Joe Lewis, one of the 3 co-directors of the amazing community indoor Skate Park 'The Warehouse' which opened last weekend. Here he is close to Donkey Common where the 'Can you do a 360 Flip' Playlaw plaque is located. cam-skate.co.uk/#:~:text=Cam…

Wiggling away so fast that all we can see is a blur...Before this little patch of land didn't have a name, until Ella and her dad did a wiggle dance and named it 'Wiggle Bottom Park' inspiring new shapes/shimmers and a playlist no less cambridgeplaylaws.fun/playma…

This wonderful initiative by @camcitco @theplaylaws is a reminder of what George Bernard Shaw reminded us “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.” bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq5e…

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of visiting the new Cam Skate Indoor Park and meeting the co-founders. One of our 10.6 Plaques is 'Can you do a 360degree flip'? Watch Joe Lewis in action cambridgeplaylaws.fun/playma…

This PlayLaw is wonderful, in a world where spaces are designed to stop young people loitering & this is just a part of being young. Us older folk took loitering for granted. Better, it's in a space where young folk love to loiter. Wonderful stuff @ThePlaylaws @CambJunction

Last summer 4,500 people took part in play activities, 80 people shared their memories of play, and 450 new ‘playlaws’ were suggested. One person who shared their memories of play in Cambridge was Mary, who used to play in the Cattle Market at what is now Cambridge Leisure.
