Imagine going back to 2011 and telling someone that the man voicing Tony Stark's AI assistant J.A.R.V.I.S. would eventually play the original Human Torch. Paul Bettany's MCU journey comes full circle in 'VISIONQUEST', where he takes on the role of Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch, alongside Vision and Dr. Phineas Horton. Jim Hammond first appeared in 'CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER' as a silent, blink-and-miss Easter egg: a Synthetic Man displayed inside a glass case at the 1943 Stark Expo. Back then, Bettany was only known as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S. Now, he's bringing the character behind the MCU's original synthetic life to the screen. From J.A.R.V.I.S. to Vision and now Jim Hammond, Bettany is playing multiple generations of artificial life in one franchise. A background Easter egg from 2011 has become a major part of the MCU's synthetic-life mythology.
