They were literally offered a state less than one year prior to this. Clinton presented his final "bridging proposals" (The Clinton Parameters) to both sides in December 2000. Palestine would retain 92% of the West Bank, and all of Gaza. Israel voted to accept, then Palestine collapsed the talks. This remains the closest moment to Palestine obtaining statehood, since the entire Arab world invaded Israel the day it came into modern existence. It was brokered by America, and this is how America was thanked.
Mass celebrations break out in the West Bank and Gaza, and Palestinians cheer, dance, and distribute free sweets. Palestine is the only known place on earth to see overwhelming popular celebration of yesterday’s attacks, although Yasser Arafat condemned the attacks and denied responsibility yesterday.

Equally we can’t just pretend that historically the single biggest obstacle to a two state solution wasn’t Palestine. nitter.cf/gbnews/status/20984152…

The actual proposed Palestinian area covered significantly less area (closer to 80%), split into non-contiguous cantons that lacked true sovereignty over borders, airspace, and water resources. These cantons would be split by Israeli military bases, settlements and bypass roads

The average age in Palestine, due to the horrific standards of living is 21. The vast majority of people there would not even have been alive then

Children under 14 are 40% of the population. Do some basic research.
