Excellent article in the Wall Street Journal on Britain's unsustainable welfare spending:
— 7 million people (over 10% of the UK population) now claim at least one or more sickness or disability benefit. This is up 60% in the past 6 years.
— The UK will spend over £100 billion pound this year on sickness and disability benefits. This is projected to increase to £130 billion a year by 2030.
— No other Western country has seen such a rise in disability claims. In the US, 10.6 million people claim some form of federal disability payment, despite the population being 5x larger.
— 1 in 7 new cars sold in the UK are under the Motability scheme; however, only 10% of cars are modified for a disability. In one dealership, 25 out of 26 cars they sold in August were all under the Motability scheme.
— Charities, consultants, YouTubers and TikTokers have all sprung up, telling people how to maximise benefit access. Some of these videos receive hundreds of thousands of views. Over 1,000 people a day are signing on for PIP.
— According to a Government survey from 2024, 25% of the UK's working age population could theoretically be classed as disabled under the current criteria and access these benefits.
— A minimum wage worker who works 40 hours per week would take home around £1,880 per month after tax; however, if you are classed as too sick to work and claim PIP, you can take home £2,000 tax free per month.

One slept-on RWA is @kamino's very own Institutional Commodity Yield vault (kicUSDC).
In short, the vault finances short-term commodity (copper) trades.
Example:
Bob contracts a $100 copper purchase.
At the same time, Bob enters a fixed-price agreement to sell that copper to for $105.
That's a $5 spread.
However, Bob wants to do this with millions, but he doesn't have the capital. So he gets financing from Kamino.
Kamino's vault finances Bob's transaction and earns a margin from that spread.
TL;DR: It's financing a pre-arranged trade where the purchase price and onward sale price are already fixed.
$23M in new deposit capacity is available in Kamino’s Institutional Commodity Yield Vault.
Institutional Commodity Yield brings global commodity trade finance onchain through fully collateralized, short-term loans, averaging 7.6% APY over the past two months from interest paid by institutional borrowers.
next tweet show us how many holders this amazing growth consists of ;)
BREAKING: Avalanche is the #1 blockchain by tokenized stock growth
Avalanche added the most tokenized stock market cap of all chains in September at +$245.5M, led by Securitize.

AUTO market crossing $100m, mostly with fixed rates and Commodities Yield Vault crossing $50m in the same week is special.
We worked extremely hard on both of these products and very happy to see both live and growing.
Both of them are net new products for DeFi, there was nowhere to draw inspiration from, both had to be designed from first principles.
$20M in additional wYLDS liquidity is now available for the AUTO/wYLDS Fixed Rate Multiply Vault.
Access up to 33% Max APY with a 6% fixed borrow rate for 30 days.
Auto Rollover is enabled by default, allowing eligible positions to roll into a new fixed-rate term at expiry without manual refinancing.
crazy gaslighting thinking people care about saving 50 quid when the whole country is going down the 🚽
You know that feeling when you book a flight for 50 quid and somehow it ends up costing 100?
Getting seats together, correcting a typo, another charge here and there, it all adds up.
When the cost of living is already squeezing people, those endless extras can feel relentless.
So we're changing the rules for you.
Parents won't need to pay a penny extra just to sit next to their own children.
You'll be able to fix any name errors on your booking free of charge.
And because the last thing you want once you're on the plane is more stress, we're working with the industry to make sure that disruptive passengers who have been banned from one airline can be banned from flying with other airlines too.
I know holidays are expensive and these are small things, but hopefully they'll make your trip just that little bit cheaper and easier.
That's exactly the kind of thing I want this government to keep on fixing.
The government takes no downside risk, yet claims a 36% cut of your gains (including paper gains) on capital that’s already been taxed as income 🤯
Insanity.
Punishing risk-takers like this is sure to drive capital out of the country. ofc then EU will be in an even worse state
Looking forward to being a catapult mentor!
This is a unique program & I expect to see some awesome new assets on chain especially with the right support system around them 🚀
