Hong Kong just passed a law that most of crypto X scrolled straight past. It matters more than it looks, especially if you are in the UK.
From 1 January 2027, every exchange and broker with a Hong Kong connection must register with the tax office, verify every customer, and report their transactions annually. From 2028 that data is shared with tax authorities abroad.
This is the OECD's Crypto Asset Reporting Framework. 77 countries have signed up, including the UK, US, Japan, Australia and the whole EU. Singapore goes live the same day. Hong Kong is just the latest domino.
Here is the part UK traders need to hear. UK exchanges have been collecting this data since January this year. The first reports covering 2026 activity land at HMRC by 31 May 2027. HMRC expects to recover at least 300 million pounds from it.
What gets reported: your name, address, tax residence and tax ID, then per asset the gross amounts, units and number of trades. Buys and sells against fiat, crypto to crypto swaps, and transfers including some to self custody wallets. Everything, not just the trades you owe tax on.
What it does not capture yet: DEX activity, peer to peer transfers and on chain income. Chainalysis puts CARF's practical reach at about 14% of taxable on chain activity. But the off ramp is always a regulated entity somewhere, and a digital ID card from a Pacific island does not change where you are tax resident.
This is not a new tax. It is visibility, and the window where exchanges and tax offices were not talking to each other is closing. Keep your own records, know which of your platforms report, and talk to a crypto literate accountant before 2027, not after.

Worth your time if you want to understand how liquidity actually gets built on a chart. Bitcoin is still in a downtrend but the short pools are stacked overhead and the downside is empty. Mitchell walks through one way this plays out, cluster by cluster, with the hedge that it can just keep falling.

🇺🇸 WALL STREET MAY HAVE MORE TO GAIN FROM POLITICAL GRIDLOCK THAN A POLITICAL WIN.
US Midterms are tomorrow. Here’s why investors should pay attention 👇
📊 THE SETUP
* All 435 House seats are up for grabs.
* Democrats are heavily favored to flip the House (~94%).
* Prediction markets put a Democratic sweep at ~70–73%.
📈 WHAT MATTERS FOR MARKETS
1️⃣ Volatility: Options markets suggest a relatively muted reaction, around a 1% S&P 500 move.
2️⃣ History: The S&P 500 has risen in the 12 months following all 19 midterms since 1950, averaging roughly 15%.
3️⃣ Gridlock: A divided Congress could limit major policy shifts on taxes, spending, and regulation.
🎯 THE BIG PICTURE
Politics moves headlines. Inflation, interest rates, growth, and earnings move markets.
History favors the post-midterm period. Will this time be different?
Bullish setup or just another political narrative? What’s your take?
