How mean. These sneaky runners coming here and carefully guiding a blind athlete through a whole 26.2 miles of crowds and tripping hazards just to get into our exclusive marathon. This'll show 'em. (Srsly: are they going to whip away the foil blanket at the end too?)

A finishers medal is a finishers medal! Guides play a vital role in allowing blind/VI people participating.
Disgusted to hear @LondonMarathon will not be awarding medals to guide runners. To the persons who made this decision; have you ever guided? Blind/VI people couldn’t do it without their guide. It’s a huge responsibility. A handful of medals costs nothing!

I lost count of the number of times I asked ITU to include guides in start lists/results. Response was always "the computer system doesn't allow two names"! 🙄🤦♀️ Guide names were included on everything in Rio though.

@rachelburden @Raworthontherun Any views on this? VLM have emailed confirmation that guides will not receive medals - totally the wrong message on how we encourage runners to support those with a disability.
I don’t guide a VI athlete for a medal, however @LondonMarathon this is so mean spirited, this hardly encourages people to guide, please change this decision, it is a huge responsibility guiding, we don’t even get a time with our name. #vlm @BritBlindSport #running #marathon
