🚫Kemi spent 4 years as Minister for Women and Equalities (2020–2024, 3M-gap). In that time Kemi did not repeal or amend the Equality Act 2010 or the Public Sector Equality Duty. Kemi has even acknowledged she never asked for these Acts to be repealed or amended, instead she helped further embed these practices that prioritised characteristics over individual merit and they flourished whilst she was in charge.
Now, out of office and chasing the premiership, Kemi promises to ONLY scrap the public-sector “due regard” duty while leaving the rest of the Equality Act in place. That is a limited tweak, not the overhaul her current rhetoric implies. Kemi has even acknowledged she never asked for the PSED to be removed or the Equality Act to be amended whilst she was the minister responsible; she says she issued guidance letters instead 🤷♀️
Voters looking for integrity in No. 10, not another round of “We’ll fix it next time.”
