Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery. Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster. He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals. I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery. He is a true hero.

🇸🇦🇮🇱 A moment worth recognizing. After Flydubai Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv was forced to make an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, The Saudis treated the passengers with care, professionalism and legendary Saudi hospitality. Israeli passenger Almog Italie told Channel 12: “They’re taking care of us… In Saudi Arabia we trust!” Thank you, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦, for opening your airport in an emergency, caring for the passengers and demonstrating the humanity and hospitality that can bring the people of our region closer together.

What a day. What a moment. What a beautiful reminder to choose life. The professionalism of flydubai, the heroism of the pilot, and the courage and spirit of the passengers on FZ1073 turned this fifth day of Sukkot into a day we will remember. God blessed us with peace. And tonight, flights from the UAE continue back and forth as normal to Israel. Life continues. Peace continues. Nothing will stop us from building, connecting, and believing in a better future. God bless a nation that always finds a reason to smile, celebrate, and cherish life.

“Canada will be its own best customer” ~ Mark Carney Here’s a notable list highlighting how absurd & out of touch that statement of his is. •Stelco Hamilton Steel Works, Ontario. Indefinitely idling cold-rolled and coated finishing operations starting October 9th Up to 500 employees affected • Algoma Steel — Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Laid off more than 1,000 workers. • Canada Metal Processing Group (Ivaco Rolling Mills, Sivaco, Infasco) – L’Orignal, Ont and Quebec plants. Affecting 140 Canadians (including 30+ permanent layoffs at Ivaco) • Novelis — Kingston, Ontario aluminum plant. Laid off 80 workers (roughly one-third of the site, including 70 hourly staff) • RYAM (Rayonier Advanced Materials) Témiscaming, Quebec pulp and paperboard mill. Temporary economic shutdown of most operations from 15 September 2026 • Carrier Forest Products — Big River, Saskatchewan sawmill. Indefinite production shutdown • South Shore Furniture — Plants in Sainte-Croix and Coaticook, Quebec. Ceased operations in spring 2026 after 86 years • Bestar Inc. — Lac-Mégantic and Sherbrooke, Quebec affecting 175 Canadians. • GoliathTech – Quebec will close and they had to open a factory in Ohio specifically to bypass U.S. tariffs. Carney needs to get back to the negotiating table or Canada’s industries and companies will continue to suffer and disappear.

WHILE THE WORLD ARGUES, AMERICA PUT A CITY-SIZED ROCKET IN ORBIT At 7:48 this morning, while the rest of the planet was still arguing about tariffs and elections and whose fault everything is, a rocket taller than the Statue of Liberty lifted off a beach in South Texas and did something no rocket that size has ever done. It went to orbit and stayed there. That's Starship, on its fourteenth try. Thirteen times before this it flew and fell short, sometimes spectacularly, and thirteen times a certain kind of commentator declared the whole thing a billionaire's fireworks show. This morning it had an engine quit on the way up. The old way of doing things, the way of committees and cautious men, would have been to abort and study it for a year. Instead, the ship relit an engine it wasn't supposed to need, pushed itself the rest of the way to 17,500 miles an hour, and opened its doors. Out came twenty-six satellites, each one the size of a 737 when it unfolds. The company's own spokesman said the payload was worth about twenty Falcon 9 launches of bandwidth. Twenty flights' worth of internet, delivered in one morning, from one ship, and then the ship came home and splashed down in the Pacific in time for lunch. Here's what I keep coming back to. Nobody made the country do this. No five-year plan, no ministry of rockets. A bunch of engineers on a Texas beach decided the future should arrive sooner, and it did, and the rest of us got to watch it on our phones. That's not something that happens everywhere. It happens here. Every empire in history was built by whoever controlled the high ground. For a few thousand years that meant the hill above the river. Then the sea. Then the air. This morning, in the time it takes to eat breakfast, we reminded the world where the high ground is now, and who's standing on it. Argue about the rest of it. That's fine. That's what a free country does. But somebody put a city-sized rocket in orbit today, and it wasn't them.

Researchers proved AI has deleted every reason universities exist. Harvard University ran a controlled experiment pitting a custom AI against their own top-tier classrooms. And the results are going to collapse the higher education bubble. They took 194 undergraduates and split them up. One group learned physics in one of Harvard’s best hands-on, active-learning physical classrooms. Group work. Instructor support. The premium university experience. The other group went home and learned the exact same material with an AI tutor. The AI didn't just win. It embarrassed the institution. Students using the AI learned more than twice as much as the students in the elite Harvard classroom. They scored 30% higher on the final assessment. And they did it in less time. Let that sink in. A piece of software sitting on a laptop outperformed a world-class faculty in one of the most elite learning environments on Earth. Universities have always justified their exorbitant tuition with two things: access to elite knowledge and the physical classroom experience. This study just proved both of those moats are gone. When software can teach you complex physics twice as well as a $60,000-a-year institution, the math of higher education breaks permanently. The AI didn't just give the students answers. It used strict pedagogical guardrails. It guided. It questioned. It forced the students to do the cognitive work. It offered perfect, one-to-one tutoring, personalized to the exact moment a student misunderstood a concept. That level of attention is mathematically impossible to scale in a physical lecture hall. For a thousand years, the university was the only place to get a premium education. Now, it’s the bottleneck. If AI can double your learning speed for a fraction of the cost, what exactly are students taking on decades of debt to pay for?

⚡️The forty-year subsidy from cheap global capital is ending. The world spent decades moving toward lower yields because there was always another source of capital willing to own duration cheaply. Japan exported savings. China recycled surpluses. Central banks bought bonds. Inflation credibility improved. Globalization crushed goods inflation. Governments could issue more debt without immediately paying a brutal price for it. Now almost every part of that structure is reversing at once. Japan is the hinge. If Japanese government bonds can pay 3%+, then one of the largest pools of savings on Earth no longer needs to leave Japan searching for yield. That changes the global capital map. Money that once automatically leaked into Treasuries, European bonds, credit and other foreign assets can remain home. At the same time, governments everywhere need more capital. Defense. Energy. AI. Grid infrastructure. Industrial policy. Aging populations. Interest expense itself. And private industry wants enormous amounts of capital too because the AI buildout is becoming one of the largest investment booms in history. So the deepest equation is brutally simple: the demand for capital is exploding while the old sources of cheap duration demand are weakening. That is why yields are rising globally. This is larger than central-bank policy. The Fed can eventually cut. The Bank of England can eventually cut. The ECB can eventually cut. But if the structural demand for capital remains enormous and the supply of government debt keeps growing, long yields do not have to follow policy rates very far downward. That is the regime change. The world is moving from capital abundance toward capital competition. And that changes every asset. Real estate now has to compete with 5% sovereign yields. Private equity has to compete with them. Growth stocks have to compete with them. Infrastructure has to clear higher hurdle rates. Governments themselves have to compete against AI companies and energy companies for the same savings pool. That is the part people are underestimating. The sovereign is no longer the only giant borrower in the room. The state wants trillions. AI wants trillions. Energy wants trillions. Reindustrialization wants trillions. The bond market gets to set the price. That price is rising. And eventually the system reaches the contradiction we have been circling for weeks: governments cannot comfortably carry ever-larger debt loads at structurally high real rates, yet the private investment boom is strong enough to keep demand for capital elevated. Something has to give.

Prime Minister Carney’s address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg rested on several foundational errors. The claim that freedom was won “thanks to the heroism of the European resistance” is historically false. Western Europe was liberated by the armed forces of the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. The subsequent emancipation of the Soviet empire was the product of the American strategy of containment. Canada’s role was particularly notable: a volunteer force from a country that had never been attacked or threatened by the Axis powers. The European institutions have succeeded in reducing internal economic barriers and managing inter-state cooperation. As an economic administration, however, they have not been a success at all. In 2008 the GDP of Europe and the United States were roughly equal; the United States now stands at 140 percent of the EU’s. Much of this relative decline is attributable to the prolonged suppression of fossil fuels—an agenda Carney himself promoted for years. Carney also omitted the decisive commercial reality: Canada sends roughly 70 percent of its exports to the United States (98% of which is unaffected by the recent tariffs) and only 6 percent to Europe. The United States accounts for half of the Canadian economy; Canada accounts for three percent of theirs. These proportions are not altered by elaborate metaphors about the transplantation of trees between Vimy and Milliken. Until Canada recovers the relative prosperity it enjoyed with the United States a decade ago, there is little strategic sense in the prime minister travelling to the Rhine to deliver a wistful reflection on the failure of Canada and Europe to produce a superior political ethos while remaining economically competitive.
