Zcash’s answer is pretty clear imo. Imagine openAI announces “We have a cryptographically relevant attack on ECDLP, that goes public in one week”.
Zcashs response would be to call an emergency 24hr token holder vote for pausing all the ecc, which it’s prepared to do, and then all miners independently decide if it’s legitimate. If miners agree, which it’s unclear why they wouldn’t, ecc is frozen well within time.
This is the quantum recoverability plan, it’s the exact same for another ecdlp break.
