As someone who has spoken with @andyyen multiple times and really respects what he has built @ProtonPrivacy, I was quite shocked and skeptical of the 404Media article (a publication I actually like on a lot of topics, FWIW). Having more context here makes this even clearer that Andy (while if I'm honest I don't love his tone/approach in some of this) is doing one of the hardest things those of us leading engineering companies are having to do right now -- wrestle with the most drastic and important transition in how software development has worked in decades, and help the engineers we employ and appreciate through that transition at the same time. I actually almost entirely agree with Andy's AI manifesto as well. The world of "hand-chiseling" code being the proper way to approach software dev in every case is over, and we cannot go back to it even if we want to. There will still be some cases where we need to slow down and use extreme caution + additional human review (i.e. cryptography, entropy generation, etc.) but we've seen how simply not using AI for those tasks at all is equally dangerous as well. For those like me who love product/design but don't love coding, this is an incredibly empowering time and a ton of fun. For those (like many of you reading this, I'm sure!) who love coding and probably don't love product/design, this is an existential crisis and takes away something you love. That sucks, and I wish we still had a choice long term to put the AI genie back in the bottle, but for better or worse that isn't going to happen. This is an insane time to be alive, and just like other monumental transitions many people will be thrilled and excited by it, many will be fearful and skeptical of it, and the hard job of a CXO is to manage all of that while being sure he drives his company to use the best and most effective path as he sees it.
more context from an actual worker at proton imo that writer at 404media is biased against proton and has been for a while, you shouldn’t take one for-profit media outlet as source of truth

Most of the "90% of code written by AI" claims come from vendors selling AI tools and lack credibility as a result Armin (creator of Flask, Jinja, Click) is different - when he says 90% of a new infrastructure project he's building was AI generated it's worth paying attention
“Is 90% of code going to be written by AI? I don’t know. What I do know is, that for me, on this project, the answer is already yes.” lucumr.pocoo.org/2025/9/29/9…

Zoom fatigue is not burnout. It’s boreout. New study: when meetings are virtual, we’re not overwhelmed—we’re understimulated. Cardiac measures show drowsiness, not stress. The antidotes are common sense but not common practice: fewer, shorter, more interactive online meetings.

2000$ M3 laptops exist with 8GB of memory :( It's a TRAP! 8GB is shared between CPU + GPU. 14 year old 32 bit Windows 7 computers had 4GB RAM + 4GB GPU. Tests show that even web browser has perf issues with 8GB RAM Macs. And SSD will swap like cracy. Dies sooner.

Do all @PostnordF home deliveries fail? Or is it just Tampere where you have to wait days between 17-22 for delivery. For the latest package this is now day 3 in row that we’ve been told thay it comes.

@PostNordSverige Is the situation any better in Sweden? At least in Finland it seems you fail to employ enough people to actually deliver your packages promptly.

Älä yksityistä luonnollisia monopoleja! Oli kyse sähköverkosta (tehty tyhmyyksissä), vesijohtoverkosta (osa kunnista suunnittelee) tai Suomen ainoasta kv-lentokentästä. Valtiolla ja kunnilla PALJON ei-monopoliyhtiöitä pilaamassa markkinoita - myy ne heti. yle.fi/a/74-20051292?text=He…

This is one of the greatest displays of the creative process I've seen. John Mayer perfectly demonstrates something that many of my favorite artists all say: You become creative by creating. "You just keep going 'til you get something," Mayer says/sings. "You gotta keep forcing it, forcing it, forcing it…it doesn’t matter [what comes out of your mind/mouth].” Dr. Andrew Huberman talks about how the brain circuits that turn on before those involved in creativity are of the stress system. I've heard him use 3 analogies to explain this. 1) It’s like you have to wade through sewage before you can swim in clear water. 2) It’s like when you try to lift your max on the bench press—it takes time to work up to that weight. 3) It’s like your best creative work is on the other side of a door at the top of a staircase—it takes time and effort to get up the stairs and through that door. In other words, Dr. Huberman says, you become more creative the more you create. Many artists talk similarly about what Mayer refers to in the clip as "ouija boarding" (just sort of spitting out words and sounds). John Legend says his songs start with what he calls “the mumble track.” “It’s just me humming and mumbling nonsense,” he said. Judd Apatow says his movie scripts are all a product of the Down-Up theory: “Get the ideas DOWN then fix them UP.” “Give yourself permission to suck," Judd says. "Anything goes. Just get something down.” Even if it’s nonsense, he says. Keep forcing it, forcing it, forcing it. - - - Before I started writing online, I told Ryan Holiday I was just waiting to know for certain what I wanted to write about. “Just start," he said. "You’re trying to map out the whole 9 innings. Just throw the first pitch…You’re better off starting imperfectly than being paralyzed by the delusion of perfection.” Rather than being paralyzed by the delusion that creativity comes to you, you're better off "forcing it, forcing it, forcing it," as Mayer said. "Go get it from the universe." Follow @bpoppenheimer for more content like this!
