4 months. 4 counties. 80+ women. 1 powerful mission: preparing grassroots women to step into politics, many for the first time.

Training took us beyond the classroom to Kenyatta House in Maralal, the place of detention for Mzee Jomo Kenyatta before his release in 1961. Standing where history was made reminded us that to shape the future of leadership, we must first understand the past. #5050Campaign

Did you know? Many women are left out of voter education, yet elections involve much more than voting day. Day 2, participants sharpened their campaign skills with @warugurukiai, learning how to plan, strategize, & craft messages that connect. #5050Campaign

Under Article 50, we have an automatic Right of Appeal upon conviction as Kenyans. Malema had to convince the same court that convicted and sentenced him that his appeal has a “chance of success”. That’s just crazy! We must keep defending our Constitution.

Sexual violence is not campaign material. It is not a debate tactic. It is not a reputational missile to be fired in electoral contests within the Law Society of Kenya. It is a grave criminal offence one that carries lifelong trauma for survivors and demands the highest standards of legal seriousness, evidentiary integrity, and victim protection. We must therefore firmly reject any campaign strategy within the LSK elections that seeks to exploit allegations of sexual violence for political capital, factional advantage, or reputational assassination. When such deeply sensitive matters are dragged into campaign platforms, press conferences, or whisper networks without due legal process, three dangerous consequences follow: First, it trivializes survivor pain by converting trauma into propaganda. Second, it contaminates investigative and judicial processes through public prejudice. Third, it discourages genuine victims from reporting fearing their experiences will be politicized rather than adjudicated. The legal profession, of all institutions, must model procedural propriety. Advocates understand or ought to understand that allegations of sexual offences must travel the constitutionally sanctioned path: formal complaint, police investigation, prosecutorial review, and judicial determination. Anything outside that process risks becoming mob litigation disguised as advocacy. An LSK campaign anchored on exploiting such allegations does not advance justice but it undermines it. It signals desperation, ethical bankruptcy, and a willingness to instrumentalize human suffering for electoral gain. Support survivors. Protect due process. Defend the integrity of investigations. Reject political opportunism masquerading as moral outrage. The dignity of victims must never be collateral damage in professional elections. If the Bar cannot uphold this standard within its own contests, it forfeits the moral authority to demand justice in the Republic at large.

Yesterday I came across what I thought was tea on Facebook, but it turned out to be @warugurukiai giving legal advice on recognized marriages in Kenya. In Kikuyu culture, for one to be considered married, a mwati and harika must have been "removed"....

We celebrate our members, @warugurukiai & Betsy Kegehi Anyanzwa, on their admission to the Bar. Their admission is not just personal but a reminder that when women rise, the legal profession and society at large grow stronger.

Karibu tena @okayojoshua
My friend Waruguru Kiai took me to Tumus, the oldest joint in Giakanja, Nyeri, to tear some nyama choma. She says the dingier the place, the sweeter the choma. I might decide to run for Nyeri governor if not president. We are tribeless, aren't we?
