he could’ve just said “ok, let’s go for a coffee instead!” but I’m glad he didn’t so she saved herself from wasting her time on a man with 0 concern for women’s safety

"Id like to feel safe" and the guy just starts giving out 100 red flags back to back.

He wants to rape and kill you. When men overreact to women’s safety, it’s always because they intend to harm.

This is hilarious, where are the men telling woman to pick better, or be more careful and not put ourselves in dangerous situations? 😂

"Need someone who either A: has more faith in humanity." Is this guy actually fucking serious? Who wouldn't WANT to have more faith in humanity? But women have legitimate reasons to be cautious around men they've never met. Expecting someone to gamble with her safety just to prove she trusts humanity is a fucking braindead take. And since when does taking reasonable precautions mean someone lacks confidence? If anything, knowing your boundaries and standing by them IS confidence. Here's what really gets me. She wasn't even rejecting him. She offered alternatives. Coffee. Pickleball. She was perfectly willing to meet him, just somewhere she felt more comfortable. But instead of respecting that, he turned her reasonable preference into a character flaw. Apparently, she either lacks faith in humanity or confidence in her own safety. And then he has the audacity to say, "Again, not pressuring you to meet." Bro. You literally made her willingness to compromise on her boundaries a test of her character and compatibility. How the fuck is that not pressure? Trust isn't something you get to demand from a stranger. And a woman doesn't owe you a demonstration of bravery just because you think you're trustworthy.

Hiking is a terrible idea for a first date anyways. If you have no chemistry it’ll take much longer to complete a hike than drink a coffee

A first date is about building trust and comfort. If a woman wants to meet in a public place with people around, meet in a public place and don’t make it difficult. It is common sense.

What psycho. If she doesn’t wanna hike then take her somewhere else. Holy fuck

This is a MAJOR red flag. If she voices concern and wants to meet somewhere more public, there is no debate. She dodged a bullet. He didn’t offer another place, he kept trying to pressure her, then put her down like she’s neurotic or something. I would tell a guy like that to fuck right off. Remember a guy at the beginning is on his BEST Behavior.

It took months of talking on the phone and messaging for my husband and me to build trust, so when I suggested it was time to meet, we did so in broad daylight at noon in a park full of people and children. I told him it was for safety reasons; he agreed instantly and said sure, anything that would make me feel safe. He did not even question it.

Outing himself, he needs to be reported.

My first date is almost always food because everyone likes food and its open in the public. Also very hard to go wrong. Idk why this guy didnt think that could be a better option.

I think a hike for a first date is a bad idea because you don’t even know how healthy this person is, a popular hike spot isn’t inherently dangerous but if ur date is too busy anaerobically respirating then what are you really gonna learn about them outside of their mobility?

All my Mom Warning Bells just went off. ANY decent guy would pivot to, "Okay, let's do something else until we get to know each other better." A guy who keeps pushing you when you've said you're uncomfortable, especially this early on, is a PROBLEM.

What a loser! Many women have died or SA’d going on hikes with men. He is showing how controlling and selfish he is with the insistent request.

Not pressuring you tho: writes multiple msgs to convince but calling you you seemed sweet is so manipulative, could have worked on a naive person

Even if a woman feels confident in her own safety (LTC holder, etc) doesn’t mean she wants to put herself in a risky situation

Men genuinely do not grasp how women have to evaluate our safety at basically all times. Had a guy I've known for 2 weeks offer to fly me to California and when I told him no that's insane, he couldn't grasp why and unfollowed me

Yikes. He sounds like a serial killer a bit.

This has red flag and safety concern all over it 😂 what's he mean "confidence in her safety" as a man I'd be carrying if someone offered to take me to some secluded spot miles away from humanity on the first date too 😂

Any man suggesting a hike in the woods for a first date is an immediate red flag. Buddy would’ve been blocked instantly.
71
Definitely a fatal attraction. Why is a hike a first date suggestion anyway.
44
Asking for safety on a first date is totally reasonable. That guy is just being unreasonable and twisting logic.
