DataSabi isn't just about showing your internet usage.
Each app gets its own page with hourly usage and a live speed graph. Your daily total sits in the tray.
The goal is simple: make it easier to understand where your data goes.
Linux users: which app eats most of your data?
A small thing in DataSabi v0.1.6 I'm glad we shipped:
Update checks run at most once a day, show which network you're on, and warn you before downloading on a metered connection.
An app that watches your data shouldn't waste it.
Which app's updates have eaten your data?

Shipping a product is exciting.
Getting it into the hands of people who didn't build it is where the real learning begins.
I'm testing DataSabi with Linux users to learn what works, what breaks, and what needs improving.
Builders: what did your first real users teach you?

THE MYSTERIO LEXICON
WORD OF THE DAY: PALIMPSEST
Pronunciation: PAL-imp-sest
Part of speech: Noun
Meaning:
Originally, a manuscript or parchment that has been erased and written on again, while traces of its earlier writing remain.
Today, it can also describe something that carries visible layers of its past beneath its present appearance.
AN EXAMPLE:
"Every old city is a palimpsest, carrying traces of the generations that lived before us."
A THOUGHT TO TAKE WITH YOU:
Perhaps human beings are palimpsests too.
We grow, change, heal and become different versions of ourselves. Yet the experiences that shaped us never disappear completely.
Some memories remain beneath our smiles. Some lessons influence our decisions long after the moment has passed.
We may rewrite our stories, but we don't always erase the chapters that came before.
LET ME ASK YOU:
Do you think people can truly leave their past behind, or does every experience leave a permanent mark on who they become?

I found a bug in my own Linux app while using ProtonVPN.
DataSabi counted the same traffic twice: once through the VPN tunnel and again through Wi-Fi.
Fixed in v0.1.6. With a VPN on, each byte now counts once.
VPN docs: arkodeon.com/datasabi/docs/n…
Which VPN do you use on Linux?
patch today, but read your distro's own advisory too. the same CVE is scored very differently depending on how your system is set up nitter.cf/markgadala/status/2115…
🚨 CRITICAL: 9.8/10 LINUX KERNEL VULNERABILITY EXPOSES SERVERS TO REMOTE ATTACKS
A serious vulnerability has been discovered in the Linux kernel's TCP networking code, potentially allowing unauthenticated attackers to crash vulnerable servers remotely.
CVE-2026-98432 is a use-after-free vulnerability triggered by specially timed network requests.
⚠️ Here's what makes this concerning:
No authentication required.
Remote attacks against exposed TCP services.
Potential kernel memory corruption and server crashes.
Multiple Linux distributions affected, including Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Amazon Linux.
Ubuntu confirms that versions 22.04, 24.04, 26.04, and 26.10 remain vulnerable, with security fixes still in progress.
The immediate demonstrated concern is denial of service. Remote system takeover has not been established, despite the critical 9.8 CVSS rating.
Linux administrators should review affected kernels and apply vendor security updates as soon as they're available.

half of 'my data finished fast' is apps you can't see. phones show per-app usage in settings, check it once. for linux laptops i built DataSabi to show it per app, by the hour nitter.cf/elormhood/status/21158…

Let’s see who is brave enough to answer this honestly.
If someone treats people terribly, cheats, lies, and destroys lives but goes to church every Sunday and prays every day…
Do you believe they are genuinely close to God, or are they using religion to hide who they really are?
And before you judge others, ask yourself: Can someone be religious without being a good person?
I want honest opinions. Don't just agree with the majority. Defend your position. 👇🔥

Let's be brutally honest.
If there were no God to judge us, no laws to punish us, and no society to condemn us, how many people would still choose to do the right thing?
Are we genuinely good, or are we simply afraid of the consequences?
I want honest answers. No pretending.

NOT EVERY OPEN DOOR IS AN INVITATION TO ENTER.
Sometimes, wisdom is recognising that an opportunity, a relationship or a situation is not meant for you.
We spend so much time trying to make certain things work that we forget to ask whether they are even worth pursuing.
Not every opportunity deserves a yes. Not every argument deserves a response. And not every connection deserves a place in your future.
Growth is not always about what you choose to pursue; sometimes, it is about what you finally learn to leave alone.
A thought to carry into today:
What have you been holding on to that you already know you need to release?
Good morning, my wonderful mutuals. Make today count.

There's a particular kind of peace that comes from having a plan for your day and not feeling the need to explain it to anybody.
Just you, your priorities and the work in front of you.

Good morning beautiful people!
It's Friday! May today bring good news, answered prayers and unexpected blessings. May we have plenty of reasons to smile.
Have a beautiful day everyone 🥰✨

Honest question for Linux devs:
Would you install a tool that needs sudo to set up, if you could read every file it installs and every permission it gets first?
That's the trust problem I'm working through with DataSabi. What would make it a yes?
Built a small app for Linux users on metered data.
DataSabi shows which apps used your internet and alerts you when one app starts eating your data fast on a MiFi or hotspot.
Free, works offline, no account. Testers wanted: arkodeon.com/datasabi/downlo…
Which network are you on?
I built DataSabi, a Linux app that shows which apps are eating your data—and warns you before your MiFi/hotspot bundle is gone.
I'm looking for 10 Linux users to test v0.1.6.
Reply or DM me your Linux distro + version. 👇
Before DataSabi v0.1.5, VS Code and Claude Code showed up as "URL Handler".
The apps were fine. I was naming them from a hidden URL-handler shortcut instead of their main one.
Fixed in v0.1.5.
A confusing label often hides a smaller bug. What's the oddest one you've chased?
DataSabi's collector is open source (Rust, Apache-2.0).
It measures per-app data use on Linux, locally: no packet contents, URLs or remote IPs, no telemetry.
If a tool needs elevated rights, you should be able to read it.
