The FBI announced yesterday that its investigation had traced the attack to TraderTraitor, a cybercriminal group linked to North Korea's notorious Lazarus network.
However, speaking to reporters at Mar-a-Lago, Trump appeared unwilling to accept the agency's conclusion.
“We don't know if it's North Korea, but if it is, we'll talk to North Korea about it.”
The breach, which is the largest cryptocurrency hack in history, reportedly involved sophisticated techniques designed to destroy evidence and complicate efforts to trace the stolen assets.
North Korea has long been accused of using cybercrime to generate foreign currency, with a UN investigation finding that hacking operations accounted for roughly half the country's foreign currency income.
The disagreement comes as Trump's efforts to revive direct diplomacy with Kim Jong Un have made little progress.
Pyongyang has strengthened its relationships with China and Russia, while expanding its nuclear arsenal and maintaining its distance from Washington.

Eight days later, he’s the prime suspect in ANOTHER stabbing.
District Judge Dan Butler let Delvin Dobbins walk on a non-monetary bond. Just a promise to show up to court.
Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando couldn’t believe he was out.
“How can that be? I mean, he just stabbed someone in the stomach a week ago.”
And it’s happened before.
Two years earlier, Dobbins was let go after a burglary arrest because the juvenile detention center had closed. Two months later, he was charged with SHOOTING a convenience store clerk.
