Todayโs Budget is a really positive and significant day for London.
At its heart is a new devolution revolution.

Thereโs plenty to welcome in todayโs Budget, but three announcements particularly stand out for me:
โก ยฃ100 towards energy bills for households in Council Tax bands A-D, alongside further action on energy costs.
๐ช Business rates relief that will mean thousands more small shops, cafรฉs and other high street businesses pay no business rates.
๐ถ Extending paternity pay to self-employed dads and partners, giving more families the support they deserve.
These are practical changes that will make a real difference to people and businesses across Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket.

Senator Tammy Duckworth, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel who lost both legs while serving in Iraq, challenged Hegseth:
"I'm glad you brought that up. Can you name a single country that belongs to ASEAN and explain what agreement we have with it? And, by the way, how many countries are in ASEAN? Frankly, I'm not sure you even know who our allies are."
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth:

Is deeply odd this profusion of people mocking the idea that people having basic supplies - food, water, some cash, wind-up radio - is somehow silly, a joke or weird. In countries such as Finland and Sweden this is absolutely standard, part of their โtotal defenceโ doctrine.

Saved from being killed in a British Council pound, by a small, home run rescue. 22 Oct 2026
'Yesterday gorgeous Dorothy joined us, another unclaimed stray from the pound - she is a very lucky girl as her pound puller put her into boarding to keep her alive after there was no rescue offers after the statutory 7 days. This is not normal, after 7 days if a dog isnโt reclaimed it can be euthanised. The sad reality is so many dogs loose their lives due to irresponsible owners discarding them like rubbish. We need to do better.
We didnโt have space, I watched her and I couldnโt let her die so here she is ๐ฅฐ
I know her chances of finding a home are slim as people just donโt want big dogs these days, but for now, she has made friends, settled on the sofa and enjoyed her McDonaldโs breakfast, and I adore her big soppy nature. She has had a really bad time recently and I am so glad we were able to help her feel safe again ๐
