The deepest teachings are wordless. They arrive in silence, in the spaces between things, in the stillness beneath movement. Let yourself be taught by silence.

George Gurdjieff’s Self Remembering: An Ultimate Guide — Richard Ruach SELF OBSERVATION: THE FOUNDATION Self Observation is the prerequisite to Self Remembering. It is the study of the human machine and its three cylinders: intellectual, emotional, and moving. This is Personality: the human mask shaped by heredity and the outside world. (More detail in the comments.) Self Remembering is NOT Self Observation. It rests on a different teaching: the distinction between Personality and Essence. ESSENCE is the “Divine spark,” the eternal element that passes from life to life. Personality is formed in this lifetime; Essence is perennial. Self Observation is a technique. Self Remembering is a state of consciousness and being. THE FOUR LEVELS OF CONSCIOUSNESS Gurdjieff describes four levels: 1. Sleep. 2. Ordinary, everyday consciousness. 3. The awakened state (sometimes called Self Remembering). 4. Objective consciousness. The technique for entering Self Remembering is DIVIDED ATTENTION (see diagram in comments). DIVIDED ATTENTION: THE KEY Imagine someone looking at a tree. An ordinary person sees the tree, but may not notice the representations and associations arising within them. Divided attention means remaining aware of your inner world while also attending to your surroundings. Consciousness becomes BIDIRECTIONAL rather than moving in one direction; eventually, it can become MULTIDIRECTIONAL. For example, imagine suddenly becoming sad while walking down the street, without knowing why. Through Self Observation, you would recognize why the sadness arose. THE SECRET THIRD THING With sustained practice, you may sense a “secret third thing” (Essence) observing the process: the arising and entering of an impression. This is neither thought nor emotion. You are turning away from the human machine (Persona). RECOGNIZING SELF REMEMBERING P.D. Ouspensky describes its “flavor” as similar to being a child visiting a place you have never been before—not nostalgia or the “inner child.” The state is slippery: you can enter it and lose it without noticing. Someone speaks to you, and suddenly it is gone. Do not force or manipulate it. Remain as natural as possible. Richard Ruach offers another technique, ROLLING ATTENTION, to maintain the state. See the comments for my notes and his fuller explanation. THE GENIUS MIND AND THE FILTER A genius can filter out distractions and concentrate on one thought. A chess master, for example, filters out bad moves rather than calculating every possibility. But an extremely strong filter can disconnect you from reality. Intellectual people therefore struggle with Self Remembering. The aim is not to strengthen the filter, but to LOOSEN it, allowing consciousness to expand and experience the world. This may help explain why geniuses sometimes have breakthroughs while dreaming. THE EFFECTS OF SELF REMEMBERING The area of consciousness expands and more impressions enter. You notice things previously overlooked; perhaps you hear something new or the world seems more vivid. When looking at another person, an image or reaction may arise within you. Ruach describes this as not coming from you, but as that person’s internal world. He calls it “Extra-Normal Phenomenological Perception” (like telepathy, but not exactly). Do NOT get caught up in this. Thinking about “having telepathy” can pull you out of Self Remembering. BEING-PARTKDOLG-DUTY: THE DEATH OF THE OLD SELF Everything in the human machine has arrived from an external place. Through Self Remembering, you attempt to draw solar force into the machine and reorganize it into something else. Gurdjieff calls this “Being-Partkdolg-Duty” in Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson. This is death: the old self is replaced by Essence. It brings to mind Christ’s words: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3

Be quiet in your mind, quiet in your senses, and also quiet in your body. Then, when all these are quiet, don't do anything. In that state, truth will reveal itself to you. Kabir

“Observing the injustice that exists in the world, a pilgrim prayed to God, asking Him to reveal why pious and righteous people suffer and endure hardships unjustly, while the unrighteous and sinners grow wealthy and live in peace. When the traveler prayed for this mystery to be revealed, he heard a voice saying: ‘Do not dwell upon matters that your mind and the limits of your understanding cannot grasp. Yet, since you have asked to learn, go down into the world, sit in one place, and observe what you see; through this experience, you will come to understand a small part of God’s ways.’ Upon hearing this, the man descended into the world and arrived at a meadow, through which a road passed. Nearby, there was a spring and an old tree, behind which the man concealed himself. Soon, a wealthy man on horseback arrived. He stopped at the spring to drink some water and rest. After quenching his thirst, he took a purse containing one hundred ducats from his pocket and counted them. Having finished counting, he intended to put the purse back, but without noticing, he let it fall into the grass. Shortly thereafter, another passerby arrived at the spring, discovered the purse of ducats, took it, and hurried away across the fields. Some time passed, and yet another traveler appeared. Weary, he stopped at a spring, drew some water, took bread from his bag, and began to eat. Just as the poor man was eating, the wealthy rider appeared; his face twisted with rage, and he struck the man. The poor fellow, knowing nothing of the ducats, swore an oath that he had seen no such thing. But the rider, being a strong man, began to lash him with a whip—and he did not stop until he had killed him. He searched through all the poor man’s clothes, found nothing, and rode away, deeply upset. The pilgrim, watching everything from a hiding place, was struck with shock. He wept over this unjust killing and prayed to the Lord, asking: ‘Lord, what is the meaning of Your will? Tell me, I beg You—how can Your goodness tolerate such a falsehood? One man lost his ducats, another found them, and a third was unjustly killed.’ As the pilgrim prayed, weeping, an angel of the Lord descended and said to him: ‘Do not grieve, old man; do not let your sorrow lead you to believe that this happened outside of God’s will. In the unfolding of events, some things occur for the sake of forgiveness, others for the sake of correction, and still others for the sake of spiritual edification. So, listen closely. The man who lost the ducats is a neighbor to the man who found them. The latter owned a garden worth one hundred ducats. The wealthy man—who was, in fact, exhausted—was destined to pay him fifty ducats for that garden. The poor man, not knowing what to do, asked God for vengeance. And so, God arranged to reward him twofold. There was another poor, weary man who found nothing and was killed unjustly. However, he too was a murderer. He had repented and spent the rest of his life in penitence, living a God pleasing life. He constantly begged God to forgive him for the murder, saying: ‘My God, grant me the same death that I inflicted!’ Naturally, the Lord forgave him the moment he repented. Thus, hearing his plea, He allowed him to die a violent death—just as he had requested—and took him to Himself, even bestowing upon him a radiant crown for his sacrificial spirit! Finally, there was a rich man who, having lost his ducats, committed a murder; he was punished for his lust and love of money. God allowed him to fall into the sin of murder so that his soul might become ‘ill’ and thus be led to repentance. For this reason, he has now left the world and become a monk. So, in any of these instances, where do you see God being unjust, cruel, or merciless? Therefore, do not second-guess God’s judgments regarding the future, for He orchestrates them for the sake of correction. Know also that many things occur in this world according to God’s will—for reasons unknown to men!”

In 1909, on a beach in southern India, a man looked at a thin, quiet boy and announced he had found the next Messiah. The man was Charles Leadbeater, a leader of the Theosophical Society, who claimed he could see auras. The boy was the son of one of the Society’s employees. Leadbeater said the boy’s aura held no trace of selfishness. His name was Jiddu Krishnamurti. What happened next was one of the strangest projects in spiritual history. The Society’s president, Annie Besant, became his legal guardian. He was taken to England, educated, and trained for one purpose: to become the vehicle for the coming World Teacher. In 1911, they built an organisation around him, the Order of the Star in the East, with Krishnamurti at its head. It grew into a global movement with more than 43,000 members. A Dutch baron gave him a castle with 5,000 acres of woodland. In 1927, Besant declared publicly that the World Teacher was here. Thousands were waiting for him to speak as the Messiah. On August 3, 1929, at a camp in Ommen in the Netherlands, he finally did. In front of Annie Besant and about 3,000 members, he dissolved the entire order. "Truth is a pathless land," he told them. No religion, no sect, and no organisation could lead anyone to it. A belief could not be organised. He did not want followers. He gave back the castle. He returned the money and the land. People who had spent twenty years preparing to follow him were told there was nothing to follow. Think about what that took. He was 34. He had been handed everything a spiritual teacher could want: devotees, wealth, land, a global platform, and a ready-made identity as the saviour of humanity. And he walked away from the one thing almost nobody walks away from. Being someone. For the next 57 years, he travelled the world saying the same uncomfortable thing in a hundred different ways. No authority can see the truth for you. Not a guru, not a method, not him. You have to watch your own mind, the fear, the comparison, the endless striving to become something, until you see that the one watching is made of the same thing it’s watching. He put it in four words. The observer is the observed. Most of us are still waiting for someone to arrive. The right teacher. The right method. The day we’ll finally be ready. In 1929, the World Teacher arrived. And the first thing he did was send everyone home. Not because there was nothing to find. Because no one else could ever find it for you.

we are living inside a simulation inside the creation of God (out of the paradise) and they want to keep us trapped here but your soul remains free. It's only your mind (knowledge through perception building the simulation) what is trapped into the cave watching the shadows, into the matrix, into the dante's inferno layer, into a multiverse of simulations... do you understand it now?
