Key messages:
🔬 NITs reshaped cACLD — but pathology is NOT dead! ⚠️ Up to 37% with LSM ≥13 kPa have occult cACLD
💡 Clinicopathologic correlation remains key

🗞️A major new guidance document on steatotic liver disease has just been published online, providing a global, multidisciplinary framework for screening and patient management across the entire disease spectrum.
With SLD affecting more than 1 in 3 adults worldwide, the document uses the patient trajectory as its anchor, providing practical recommendations on case finding, risk stratification, referral pathways and stage specific care, from early disease to advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis.
All recommendations are categorised as must have or nice to have, enabling adaptation across different healthcare systems and resource settings.

A key Plenary session is now providing an important update on the joint @AASLDtweets and EASL consensus on clinical trial design and endpoints in MetALD and ALD.
The discussion is outlining general considerations for trial design, before moving into phase 2 and 3 endpoints in pre cirrhotic disease, and specific considerations for compensated and decompensated advanced chronic liver disease.
Challenges around harmonising endpoints across overlapping phenotypes, the role of biomarkers and imaging, and regulatory expectations are all under careful examination. Patient centred outcomes and emerging surrogate markers are central to shaping the next generation of trials. #SLDSummit
