I first met @patrick_oshag 6 or 7 years ago and he’s become an incredible friend and influence on my life. He’s one of a kind. It was fun to get back on after a long journey from that first podcast to today
When I first hosted @AliBHamed he had a small firm that he’d started in his dorm, and he was making it work Today, his business is 10x larger at 2.5B across credit, equity and “hybrid” We talk about investing and building an investment firm. And what he sees today. Enjoy!

Everyone asks how to break into venture capital. Ali Hamed has an answer most people won't follow. On Forged in America, Ali, who started his firm in a Cornell dorm and now runs Treville Capital with over $2 billion under management, told Ravin and me he can teach anyone to get into VC within two years. Start a blog. Don't interview CEOs; they're too hard to reach. Interview the unsung heroes at 50 companies in one industry. They'll say yes and promote it, and in two years you know the industry, have a network and maybe deal flow. Nobody does it. Then his small superpowers: offer three available times, keep calls under two minutes so people always pick up, and call at the end of the hour. Full episode: nitter.cf/goldstein2002/status/2… What's the simplest habit that opened the most doors for you? @ForgedUSAPod @RavinGandhi1 @AliBHamed
Another one we never posted the full video for on X: Episode 19 of Forged in America with @AliBHamed, founder and CEO of Treville Capital Group (formerly CoVenture). Ali went to Cornell to play baseball and started the firm while he was still an undergrad. Today it manages over $2 billion across private credit, venture and capital solutions. @RavinGandhi1 and I got into: • Turning a baseball dream into a firm founded in a dorm room • Being "a little shameless" to get his first meetings • Finally raising his first $25 million in 2016 • Why YouTube creators became an investable asset class, and Mr. Beast • Why growth stabilizes an investment firm • AI valuations, and where all the talent is going • American exceptionalism and the Shark Tank effect Timestamps: 00:00 Cold open: the superpowers of entrepreneurship 01:39 Who is Ali Hamed? 02:52 Cornell and the baseball dream 05:07 Too early for the AI revolution 06:51 How he started building credibility 08:56 Being a little shameless 10:37 Getting the flywheel going 11:40 ProducePay, Savneet Singh and a $25 million backstop 13:57 Why people won't do what it takes 16:14 From $25 million to billions 20:00 Bringing rigor to credit and venture 20:47 YouTube as an asset class 22:23 Mr. Beast 24:11 Is the intensity a defense mechanism? 27:42 Spotting talent 29:22 Hire senior or grow your own? 32:45 Building a firm in your twenties 34:29 Supporting founders when it's hard 38:01 The people who backed him early 39:46 Growth as a stabilizer 41:27 New York's network effects 43:11 Family and immigration 44:51 AI disruption and the market 49:58 LLMs are the new clouds 53:04 Consumer brands and smiling churn curves 55:12 Where the talent is going 56:54 Google and the AI drawdown 1:00:04 What he's most excited about 1:03:43 American exceptionalism What's the next asset class nobody takes seriously yet? @ForgedUSAPod @RavinGandhi1 #ForgedInAmerica

1/7 Broke undergrad baseball player cold-emails Cornell alumni VCs: sticks their portfolio logos in his research deck and says, “Tell me what I got wrong.” Gets traction → intros → raises $25M SPV at 22 → builds Treville (~$3B AUM) by 34. Ali Hamed drops the full shameless playbook on Forged in America Ep 19. Thread 👇 #Startups #VentureCapital #Entrepreneurship

Ari is one of the only people I’ve ever met who lives up to the hype He’s incredible Cc @AriEmanuel
My conversation with @AriEmanuel centers on the multibillion-dollar "anti-AI bet" he’s making on live events, sports, and IP. As AI makes digital content cheaper and everyday work more automated, he believes the economic value will concentrate in live and physical experiences. It’s the thesis behind a portfolio that includes the marquee assets in live entertainment -- the UFC, WWE, and his new company MARI, which owns Frieze and the Miami and Madrid Opens. We talk about why he’s betting so heavily on that future, how AI will change content and IP, and the simple principles that have guided his success. Ari is relentlessly aggressive in pursuit of what he wants, and that intensity comes through in this conversation. Enjoy! Excited to share what we've been working on at Method and announce our $26M in funding from Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Blackstone, and others. I met @___sjones and Sean ten years ago at @PalantirTech. We always talked about starting a company together, and when we saw how AI would shift the balance of power in security, we had no choice not to. We started Method to build the tools that American cyber defenders need to achieve real resilience in the face of autonomous threats. Two years in, we've put together an incredible team of engineers and operators to go after this mission and are deployed with some of the top security teams in the country. We're grateful to be backed by investors like who believe that American cyber resilience is a challenge worth solving. We are just getting started.
Method is building autonomous cyber systems for the U.S. Government and critical enterprises. America is facing perpetual cyber conflict. With AI accelerating the speed and scale of attacks, U.S. cyber operators need new capabilities to stay ahead. Method is delivering those capabilities. We are building the command-and-control layer for autonomous cyber operations. Our products fuse offensive and defensive capabilities into a full-spectrum platform, enabling security teams to achieve true visibility, challenge their estates, and outpace their adversaries. Today, Method is deployed across the Defense Department, U.S. Federal Government, and Fortune 500. We've raised $26M from @a16z, @generalcatalyst, @blackstone and others. This funding accelerates our mission to equip the security teams defending what matters most.

Congrats to Scott Wu and the Cognition team who have been on a tear
We’ve raised over $400M at a $10.2B post-money valuation to advance the frontier of AI coding agents. The round was led by Founders Fund with other existing investors including Lux, 8VC, Neo, Elad Gil, Definition Capital, and Swish VC all doubling down. We’re also joined by new investors including Bain Capital Ventures and D1 Capital. Two of our early investors, Christian Lawless of Conversion Capital and Emily Cohen of Neo, have even joined our team full-time.
