Honored to be featured by @NewTimesRwanda What began with watching my mother help small businesses access credit has grown into PACIN’s mission to make financial inclusion more accessible through AI. Grateful for the journey so far and excited for what’s ahead. Thank you @NewTimesRwanda! #PACIN #Fintech #AI
#Rwandan innovator Amen Divine Ikamba has been selected among 22 founders for the inaugural 2026 cohort of the AI Ventures Accelerator (AIVA). • Ikamba's fintech startup, PACIN, is set to showcase its technology at Demo Day in Delhi, India, scheduled for October 4-7. • The event will bring together founders from across the accelerator’s six-month programme to present the ventures they have developed. • PACIN is an API that converts mobile money and alternative financial data into explainable AI credit scores, helping lenders assess borrowers who lack traditional credit histories. • The platform analyses financial behaviour such as savings patterns, repayment history and transaction consistency to support credit decisions. • PACIN was also selected for the Black Is Tech Pitch Competition in Houston, accepted into the NVIDIA Inception Program and named among 25 startups set to pitch at the Africa Fintech Summit in Kigali in November. • Ikamba said the idea was inspired by watching her mother, a loan officer, work with small business owners who struggled to access additional financing because they lacked formal financial records. A proud moment for PACIN! We’re excited to be among the winners of the first AI Ventures Accelerator cohort and to receive $10,000 in non-dilutive, equity-free seed funding. Grateful to @Technovation, @GenUnlimited, @GoogleIndia and everyone who supported us along the way.

A startup leaves no room for mediocrity. The discipline it demands from you personally, not just the company, is the part nobody warns you about. New things to learn every single day. Somehow still thrilling. What's the last thing that stretched you more than you expected?

Before every role is staffed, you're the one carrying most of them. That means actually learning what each one requires to do well, not just enough to fake it. The option to cut corners is there the whole time, since nobody's watching half the roles you're filling. Choosing not to take it is the real discipline.

Selected for the inaugural AI Ventures Accelerator cohort, heading to Delhi in October for Demo Day. Built @pacinnetwork (PACIN) to score the borrowers traditional credit bureaus cannot see, starting with the lenders across Africa locked out of that data. Thank you @technovation and @GenUnlimited_ for building an accelerator that backs infrastructure this early.

This is the piece that connects directly to what we are building at PACIN. A continental credit rating agency only works if it is fed by transaction level intelligence from the ground up. Watching October 7 closely.
AFRICA’S TIME IS NOW. 🌍 On 7 October 2026 in Mauritius, we officially launch the Africa Credit Rating Agency (#AfCRA), a bold step towards greater African agency, stronger financial sovereignty and ownership of Africa’s economic narrative. Vision delivered. Promise honoured.

The offshore first playbook only made sense when nobody could underwrite what was happening inside African economies. Mobile money proved the data exists. Reading it is the gap PACIN is closing.
Is the offshore-first playbook for African fintech starting to change? For years, some of Africa’s biggest tech companies looked overseas for their next phase of growth. This week, two of the continent’s payments giants are making moves that point in a different direction. Moniepoint is phasing out MonieWorld, its UK remittance app, after committing £1.2 million in setup costs, while OPay is reportedly exploring a dual listing on the Nigerian Exchange alongside a potential US IPO. @jovebosco looks at why focusing capital closer to home could make sense when the numbers are already there: Moniepoint processes $294 billion in annualized transaction volume across Nigeria and Kenya, while 88% of OPay’s $536 million top line comes from the market it already serves. Elsewhere this week, Nedbank gets approval to acquire up to 66% of NCBA Group, Ventures Platform closes its second fund at $84 million, and MTN pursues regional banking licenses. The reason African credit bureaus fail is not bad data collection. It's that they were designed to collect the wrong data entirely. Bank statements for an economy that runs on mobile money is not a data problem. It's a design problem.

1/ I'm from Kigali, Rwanda. I'm a senior in college in California. And I'm building financial infrastructure for a continent. Here's why. 🧵

5/ That gap is not an accident. It is the result of building credit systems for one economy and expecting them to work in another.

Thread 1/3 Last week: the gap. $700B in unmet credit demand. Only 1 in 10 has a formal credit record. Mobile money data no bureau touches.
