Well no. And Coogler addressed this when the movie came out. Xenophobia is coloring yalls interpretation and leading to these racially shallow and simplistic takes. The juke was never a Black safe space, the KKK sold it to them and was coming for them in the morning regardless

Much is written about how Americans are ignorant of Middle Eastern/Chinese/etc cultures. Not enough is written about how ignorant they are of American culture.

“To be descended from those who planted yams, who raised cattle, who wove cloth and sang to the moon, is not shame. It is history.”
For my fellow black people across the world. Let's drop this need to insist that our ancestors were kings and queens. As though royalty is the only measure of dignity.
The truth is that many of our ancestors were not monarchs.
They were farmers, blacksmiths, midwives, storytellers, traders. Ordinary people living ordinary lives and still their lives were full of meaning.
To be descended from those who planted yams, who raised cattle, who wove cloth and sang to the moon, is not shame. It is history.
Stop looking to Europe’s idea of royalty to justify your worth. Dignity is not the preserve of royalty. It belongs to humanity.

Beautiful sentiment. Extend it further. To be someone who today plants yams and raises cattle and weaves cloth and sings to the moon is not shame. It is life.

It's so funny how the the right glorifies the "rooftop Koreans" because they failed to stop the looting of koreatown, killed a Korean teenager in a friendly fire incident, and many of the original Korean shopowners have expressed deep regret for their actions.

Not a big fan of #Clayface, but it is very pointed that the handsome leading man who has been accused of sexual assault is immediately ostracized when he looks like a freak and can’t earn, but as soon as he gets his good looks back, the industry opens its arms to him again.
