🔥Another manifesto promise made to residents dropped by the Green Party in Hackney - a flag ship one too saying they would cancel the Edmonton waste incinerator rebuild 🔥 Hat tip to @JSLondonLDR
Hackney's Green administration has dropped its opposition to the £1.5bn Edmonton waste incinerator rebuild, saying cancelling it would be "devastating". Its manifesto had pledged to "explore every option to cancel" the project.🔥

Good to see more @hackneycouncil housing schemes get on site.
But far from being ‘new’, these were initiated by @HackneyLabour and are the result of many years of hard work.
And made possible by grant funding from our Labour @MayorofLondon.

I suspect Hackney residents with cancer will think it was a good use of time and hopefully they will benefit from the money raised despite this appalling comment from their local council representative
'Is that a really good use of his time?'
'Raising money for a cancer charity?'

Jewish schools in Stamford Hill are specifically targeted.
I visited one in Hackney a couple of years ago after a paint attack.
I felt so sad surrounded by so many young girls, same age as my daughter, who looked absolutely terrified by all the police officers and strangers that had descended upon them.

.@HackneyGreens have long campaigned on having no ‘whip’ system, while @mayorofhackney has hailed savings from a smaller Cabinet.
So why has a Green Chief Whip been appointed — and are they taking an extra publicly-funded allowance? 🤔
My question for @hackneycouncil👇

Alzheimer's disease is called the long goodbye. The loved ones of those afflicted with it are forced to surrender the people they love long before they die.
It's a cruel illness that doesn't care who you are or how much you'll be missed and it leaves devastation in its wake.
My love to the Burnham family on this sad day and to the tens of thousands of families who are slowly saying goodbye to a person they love @alzheimerssoc

The Bill that was brought to us today was not safe. If it had passed, vulnerable people would have been at very real risk of coercion into assisted dying or out of fear of being a burden.
We need to prioritise ensuring equal access to our world class palliative care.
