We are forgetting one crucial thing here: the Nehru family treats/ed India like a fiefdom. From 47 to 90, entire India supported them, celebrated them, venerated them.
Now, when the support wanes, they are happy to cut and partition again. To retain parts that support them.
It's profit generating due to goods and mines.

I was grateful to be named the Guest of Honor at the Northwest Arkansas Kannada Sangha’s celebration of the 71st Kannada Rajyotsava. I am proud that our region is home to many belonging to the Kannada-speaking community and was glad to share in their culture today.
Annamalai didn't even wish Kannadigas on twitter .
Kannadigas and Karnataka gave him an identity that he is using in politics today.
Many Kannadigas incl @venkatesh_rvk14 went and campaigned for him in 2021 despite peak COVID.
