This is the man Sally Rooney calls "among the most brilliant and influential intellectuals working in Europe today", who spends his evenings watching and sharing Hamas propaganda videos with his mates.
Here’s Andreas Malm speaking in December 2023 about the 7th of October terrorist attacks. He describes it as ‘fundamentally an act of liberation’… 🎥 ⬇️

The woman who wants to run Berlin wrote in the margins of a Spiegel interview that she and her husband are afraid of Hamas sympathizers in the city, and asked her team if they could cancel the whole interview. Her office sent the notes to Spiegel by mistake. The man she was afraid to name is Ibrahim Ibrahim, a PFLP supporter who called Sinwar, the man who led the October 7th massacres a "martyr hero." He showed up at her party's victory celebration in Neukölln. Days later he flew to Istanbul for a conference with Hamas-linked figures. Berlin's own intelligence service lists the group he works for as a Hamas support organization. Elif Eralp won the election on September 20. Her party doubled its vote. She is now negotiating with the Greens and SPD to become governing mayor, which means she would be responsible for the city's police and security. The police advised her not to name names. If the candidate for mayor is too scared to say out loud who is intimidating her, the people doing the intimidating already have more power in Berlin than the people who are supposed to govern it.

This is beyond horrifying. Russia struck a railway station in Dnipro with a drone, killing 13 people who were simply waiting for their train. The drone operators could see the platform in real time. They could see the civilians standing there. They knew what they were targeting, and they struck anyway.

Something very touching about the chapel of New College, Oxford having a memorial, separate to the main roll of honour, for its German students who went home to fight - and die - for their country

So basically what everyone feared would happen is happening.
Russian forces have begun taking civilians from occupied Oleshky to Russia, apparently disregarding previously announced agreements governing the operation. The operations are being conducted by the Russian military, without American representatives or teams from either side’s ombudsman office present. Russia’s state news agency TASS is openly filming the operation. There is no indication that civilians are being given a choice of where they wish to go. No buses or other vehicles designated to transport evacuees to Ukrainian-controlled territory are visible. The operation raises serious concerns that Russia is once again exploiting a humanitarian evacuation to forcibly transfer Ukrainian civilians. The parallels with the evacuation of Mariupol’s Azovstal steel plant are disturbing. Once again, Moscow appears to be disregarding agreed procedures while controlling the fate of Ukrainian civilians.

In this piece @DannyCohen writes about the terrible experience of Jewish members of staff at the BBC. I suspect there are many non Jews there who feel almost as bad about what they see happening, but fear speaking out. After my recent comments on @spikedonline and elsewhere I have had numerous emails and messages from old colleagues and current TV types. Here's a typical one, which @TwisterFilm might also enjoy: 'Phil, As a matter of policy I never, and can't, say what I do or where I work. But in the wake of everything - @imluciekon , Bob Vylan, all the events leading up to the Prescott memo, the unpersoning of Jenni Murray, it's an endless list - I just wanted to register my joy, relief and appreciation to hear someone of your background and experience speaking out about the BBC. So draw your own conclusions I guess. But I'm sure many have told you that sometimes, seeing all this happen, there's a limited amount of stuff they can personally affect and sometimes they just want to burst. I know I'm not the only one, but finding others who are prepared to speak up is hard, for lots of reasons. I'm alarmed that most of my peers both within and without that industry seem still not to have noticed. I think everything you said to @FraserMyers on Spiked is 100% accurate.' telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.

The more you think about the New Statesman's decision to try and compare Sally Rooney to Salman Rushdie, the more abysmally stupid it becomes.
Plus her Japanese translator would have to be murdered, her Italian translator stabbed and her Norwegian publisher shot.

Here is what happened, but the larger calls go back last month: I’ve seen several calls circulating on Instagram. Several «French» accounts began promoting a French music festival taking place on October 17, apparently to attract young Brits to France, knowing how many travel there every year for music festivals. Greta was also involved, raising funds for these “student groups.” The choice of October 17 appears, at least to me, very much deliberate, with the aim of mobilizing French Algerians as well and turning the occasion into another public display of historical resentment. The date commemorates the 1961 massacre of Algerian protesters in Paris, which the Algerian regime continues to invoke in its demands for French recognition of colonial crimes and get reparations. Reminder that last year Algeria's parliament initially approved legislation calling for reparations for French colonial rule.
It appears a large group of people who live in Britain have travelled to France this weekend to riot and encourage others to do so.

"According to analysis conducted by the Financial Times, 24 ships were hit in the two weeks to 11 October, the most intense period of attacks in the entirety of the war. It is almost double the second worst period, when in the first two weeks of the war in March, 13 ships were hit. 'Iran may be developing its anti-ship missile capabilities to improve its ability to target vessels,' the Institute for the Study of War said." Bet you'll never guess who's helping Iran develop its anti-ship missile capabilities... The Strait remains perilous, oil hits $100 a barrel, and the country helping America's adversary in the Gulf gets sanctions lift, while the country helping to protect U.S. forces there from drone attacks gets its air defense system degraded. uk.news.yahoo.com/disturbing…

This is Limoges city hall. On fire. Storming and setting fire to seats of democratic government is insurrectionary violence. No grievance gives anyone the right to do this. Students have legitimate grievances. This violence is burying them. The missing teachers, overcrowded classrooms and anxiety about the future disappear behind the destruction. For a politics built on permanent confrontation, that can be useful. Mélenchon’s strategy connects separate grievances into a single indictment of the system. The confrontation becomes the cause. And violence feeds on perceived weakness. When the state appears to have disappeared, people test its limits. Each retreat invites another challenge. A kind of madness takes hold: destroying the institutions we depend on comes to look like liberation. I wrote in June that democracy rests on a promise: that the state is strong enough to guarantee everyone the same protection, the same rights and the same rules. When that promise breaks, the consequences extend far beyond security. Fear spreads. People protect themselves because they no longer trust that they will be protected together. They retreat into their group, their community, their identity. Those promising order gain ground. Distrust replaces the confidence that makes a common life possible. And is exploited by all those, inside and outside the country, who want to see it burn!

Warning - good news story!
"The new Museum of Moroccan Jewish Culture opened its doors in the city of Fez on Monday, marking the first time in history that an Arab Muslim country has allocated public funds to establish a museum entirely dedicated to Jewish culture. The museum offers a rich and diverse collection of ritual and everyday objects; archaeological, ethnographic, and artistic artefacts; archives and rare manuscripts; crafts; along with traditions, practices, and testimonies handed down through the 2,500 years of Jewish history in the country."

Astonishing: BBC Verify has done more articles on the Israel/ Palestine conflict than on all the news in the U.K. put together.
Since Verify was launched in May 2023, more articles have been written about Israel and the Middle East than any other topic. Almost a quarter of all Verify articles. More than the US, more than Russia-Ukraine and, most remarkably, even more than UK politics. This is disproportionate coverage to an obsessive level. We wonder why some people have become so obsessed with us but we don’t need to look far to see that the national broadcaster is fanning the flames of this obsession.
