Player A is better than Player B as high school seniors. Player A signs at a D1 school. Player B signs at a juco. Player A sits the bench as a D1 freshmen. Player B is a juco starter for the fall and spring season. Player B now signs at the same D1 school that player A is at and plays over him. or Player B signs at a D1 school and Player A circles back to juco to catch up on playing time. This is more common than most realize. Nothing replaces game experience. Go where you have the highest perfect chance to play as a freshman. Go where you are wanted and needed.

Some of the most important adults in a teenager’s life are working for a stipend that barely covers the gas they burn getting to practice. Think about that

Everybody wants to be elite until they realize how boring becoming elite can be. Same drills. Same details. Same work. Over and over again. That’s the separator.

If you’re a RHP who throws up top, is under 6’1” and is a junior or older and you don’t throw your fastball consistently over 83 mph, You’re not a college prospect. I’m not saying you can’t walk on at the Helen Keller school for kids who can’t read good, I’m just saying you’re going to have to throw harder to get a coaches attention.

We have velocity clinics everywhere popping up. They’re killing it financially, training players to throw harder and harder. When is someone opening Throw Strikes University?

The most challenging part for recruits when it comes to @d3baseball is the fact that there is no parody, what so ever, at that level. You will see DIII programs that are run like a big time DI programs who have incredible coaching staffs, resources, & can really develop players… And other programs where the kid who didn’t play on your HS team just walked on and is now starting for. Do your research and don’t write anyone off until you learn more 💰!
Alex Madera played four years of Division III baseball at Arcadia. All-American, .432 across four seasons. Then, in a graduate year at North Carolina, where he started all 61 games at shortstop and led the team in hitting. He signed with the Cubs organization this spring. Division III is not where baseball goes to end. For some players, it is where it gets built.

22% of American born MLB players played JUCO ball. 14% direct from JUCO and 8% JUCO to 4 year to professional ball. 21% of D1 rosters are made up of former JUCO guys per Google AI. Stop chasing a jersey and start chasing fit and development.

Less and less people want to coach high school sports. We’re also seeing a shortage of umpires and officials. At some point, you have to ask why people are walking away from the game. Do we see a pattern here?

Why Juco? 100% scholarship (most cases) vs 25% scholarship. Two seasons (fall and spring). Immediate playing time (most cases). Smaller classes. Less restrictions on coach's time spent with players. Draft and four year options open. Learn to grind.

The best thing your son can do at today's tournament is play hard, be a good teammate, and let the game come to him. The worst thing you can do is coach him from the fence. One of these is in your control.
