Strong relationships drive strong economies. I’m proud to welcome leaders from Japan and states across the Southeast to Nashville for the 48th SEUS/Japan Annual Joint Meeting. We look forward to strengthening this longstanding partnership and building new opportunities for Tennessee. Excited for what’s ahead!
The 48th SEUS/Japan Joint Meeting is underway in Nashville! Tennessee is proud to host this annual gathering of business and government leaders from Japan and across the Southeast as we strengthen this longstanding economic partnership and explore new opportunities for collaboration and growth. Former Gov. @BillHaslam is serving as chair alongside Japan co-chairs Yasuhiro Morita and Masaaki Tsuya of @Bridgestone. Japan is Tennessee’s top foreign direct investment partner, with more than 200 Japanese businesses supporting nearly 50,000 jobs and $21 billion in capital investment across the state. We’re excited to build on these relationships and welcome our partners from Japan and across the Southeast to Tennessee. With an incredible speaker line-up to kick off the conference, here are a few snapshots from day 1 so far!

Excited to see the outcomes of this regional partnership and the breakthroughs it will make possible. Tennessee is proud to have @UTKnoxville and @VanderbiltU helping lead the way. 👏
Tennessee is proud to be represented by two founding members of the Southeast Regional Superintelligence (SI) Computing Consortium: @UTKnoxville and @VanderbiltU. The consortium was announced last week by the @WhiteHouse at the Science: A New Golden Age Summit. 🙌 The consortium brings together universities across the Southeast to combine resources, share capabilities and expand access to advanced computing infrastructure for scientific research. This collaboration can accelerate discovery, support commercialization and strengthen U.S. leadership in science and technology. We’re excited to see how this effort connects Tennessee’s strengths in advanced manufacturing, energy, healthcare and logistics with partners across the region—and creates new opportunities for research, investment and high-quality jobs. 💡

I joined U.S. Sen. @MarshaBlackburn at the @bitcoinpark_ Imagine IF summit for a fireside chat about what gives companies and investors the confidence to build in Tennessee and what it will take to keep that momentum going. Businesses choose Tennessee for the certainty that comes from a pro-growth environment, an entrepreneurial culture, responsive government and leaders working together across local, state and federal levels, and I'm grateful for the chance to highlight our partnership today. @Bitcoin

It was a pleasure joining Hamilton County Mayor @westonwamp and @TNChamber CEO Josh Brown in a panel led by @SCORE_TN President & CEO @davemansouri to discuss workforce development across our state. As we continue to support @Jobs4_TN during the rollout of TNWorks — the single source for workforce in our state — we're excited about the collaboration between education, economic development and workforce in Tennessee. When a company expands in or moves to Tennessee, we want them to know our state has the highly skilled workers it needs to be successful. 🤝

Some days in life can be summed up by a simple sentence. Others require chapters to tell; September 11, 2001 is one of them. Twenty-five years later, we remember the innocent lives lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and give thanks for the courage and unity that emerged from our nation’s grief. @MariaLeeTN and I invite Tennesseans to join us in prayer for the families forever changed by this terror and observe moments of silence at the following times. May we never forget.
