“This is an opinion column. It usually runs to 1,000 words. Eight hundred of them have been spent naming ordinary things Israel has illegally denied the people of Gaza. I could fill another column and still not exhaust the list.”

Another American citizen wrongfully detained by the Israeli govt.
Naqaa Hamed, an American journalist, was stopped by the IDF, interrogated about her work, & now faces bogus espionage allegations.
The Israeli govt should immediately release Naqaa, NOW.
"CPJ condemns Tuesday's detention of Palestinian-American journalist Naqaa Hamed by Israeli forces at the Tuqu checkpoint near Bethlehem as she returned from a reporting assignment. While accompanying journalists were questioned and released, Israeli authorities should immediately free Hamed and publicly clarify the legal basis for her detention. Unsubstantiated espionage allegations must not be used to criminalize journalism, and the systemic harassment and intimidation targeting her work in the occupied West Bank must end."

NEW: Patriots Owner Robert Kraft said he has spent years “building bridges.” So we counted every dollar Kraft’s foundation has donated to the Friends of the IDF (+ other Israeli military groups) over the past 20 years, as well as to several pro-Israel groups known for espousing Islamophobia and denial of Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

Rahm's dad was a member of the zionist terror group Irgun that bombed the king david hotel in 1946
Now that he won’t stop talking, the folks who told us Hasan Piker is a serious voice who should be listened to ought to let us know which of these positions we’re supposed to take seriously:
1. That “pound for pound,” America is worse than al-Qaeda - a ridiculous statement on a normal day, but particularly vile the same week we’re reflecting on the loss of 3,000 Americans on the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
2. That Communist China’s repressive regime is the “model” for America.
3. That Mao was “a great man of history” while the collapse of the Soviet Union was "one of the greatest catastrophes of the 20th century."
The great thing about America is that everyone is entitled to their opinions and free to express them, however dumb or immoral. That includes ‘Comrade’ Piker. The rest of us are just as free - obligated even - to call out this vile, hateful speech that only divides America.

Periodic reminder that AI is far more likely to cause an apocalypse because it is too dumb than because it is too smart.
NEW: An AI-assisted intel report sent the military scrambling to intercept a Chinese ship in the Middle East it believed was transporting components of a nuclear weapons program.
It turned out to be a hallucination. And it "almost started a war." cnn.com/2026/09/18/politics/…

the "double tap" strike where Israel not only kills someone but then kills first responders is one of the most twisted and sickening things human beings have ever done to one another

Correct, the overarching liberal FP orthodoxy is the US slipped on a banana peel and destroyed Vietnam, Iraq and killed 20K+ Palestinian children in a bumbling good faith attempt to “defend democracy.” Does it make sense? No. Is it a necessary fiction to maintain empire? Clearly.

We don't interrogate enough the fact that so much of American exceptionalism relies on explaining away each of our atrocities as an oopsie.
It's technically true that the US has killed more civilians than al-Qaeda as @hasanthehun says but that's because the US is a superpower of 350 million people and al-Qaeda is a relatively small terror group. It's comparing apples and oranges. Also, key difference: US policymakers for all their faults do not deliberately try to kill Muslim civilians. Al-Qaeda does.

I need everyone to understand that if this had been done, for example, by Iranian forces to an Iranian, the US press would have made this person an international mega celebrity by now
ICE blinded me for life. My skull is shattered beyond repair - I can't even sneeze or cough without risking death.
They pulled a nickel-sized plastic chunk from my eye, with metal, glass and plastic still lodged behind it. It's a miracle I survived.

The first child victim of the pager attack, Muhammad Bilal Kanj, was killed on our street in Chiyeh. When I went to the funeral in Dahye, the second wave hit; a walkie-talkie exploded just feet away.
There were children in attendance, clutching his photo as they walked in a single file near the cemetary.
When the second wave hit—and I'll never forget this—someone in the crowd of mourners cried out "not even the devil would come up with such brutality."
The last thing I remember that day is watching a young woman, her hands covered in blood, eyes wide open, and a look of shock and horror etched across her face.
